What's so wrong with using the damn map

Ohh and btw..

Remove OSU from the equation and the other 11 teams are very competitive, with Iowa, UW, UM, PSU, NW, UN fighting for the top spot.

However imagaine this scenerio, Joe Pa steps down, We lose Kirk to PSU. Then the east west balance falls apart.

Haha pwn3d....no quite bud. I personally don't care to much how it falls out. OSU will do fine in any alignment.

Delany will not make a geographical division. Why would he say he will base the split from '93 if he were going to do it geographically?
I think it is an unwise move, though.
He and other Big 10 masterminds need to LET GO OF THE PAST, and do what's best for the FUTURE of the Big 10. Michigan is no longer a powerhouse. IOWA and Wisconsin both have staying power. Northwestern, as much as the Chicago-haters don't want to admit it, is a rising star.
Split it geographically, Jim. 'Sippi River Side vs. Ohio River Side. Go 'Sippi Side!

I don't think you can dismiss UM as a powerhouse and then in turn claim Iowa and Wisconsin have staying power when neither has been proven for more than a few years. If/when Jim Harbaugh takes over for RichRod after this year UM will once again be a force.

Iowa and Wisky have both been in the top tier of the B10 for 2 decades spanning 2 differenct coaches. I think the statement that both Iowa and Wisky have staying power is a safe one.

I agree. In case none of you noticed, Michigan still recruits very well. And they are TERRIBLE on the field right now. When they get a new coach, they are going to be back. DickRod was never a good choice. But they aren't going to simply stay down.

Why wouldn't KF finish his career at Iowa?

I agree...I used to worry about PSU but not so much anymore...I just got a feeling that Kirk wants to finish up here at Iowa.

"Why wouldn't KF finish his career at Iowa? "

He is from Pa. And that (if you believe the rumors) is the one job he would leave Iowa for.

The problem remains that no matter how you divvy the teams up, parity may not reign. Big 12 North was strong for a bit, but now dominated by the South.

And just look at the pro leagues: AFC over NFC for the most part recently in the NFL, AL viewed as more dominate over NL in MLB, etc.

They can put PSU in the West Division based on historical data, but it doesn't guarantee squat for the future. And simply trying to readjust the divisions every few years would mean you're simply putting a band-aid on a gaping wound.

One possibility I haven't seen explored is that if you use the geographic east/west lineup, with one out of division game.

The thing of it is, it is Iowa and Wisconsin that need to be split up if Penn State goes to the west.

They are both upper echelon teams that have competed for the league championship, and having two of them in the same league as Nebraska and Penn State will leave 4 out of 6 teams competing for the division. Compare that to the east...

Ummmm....what rumors?
According to someone QUITE close to KF, this 'rumor' has no merit.

There is a big difference between speculation and rumor.

I hope your right. Can't think of a better coach, better person for Iowa. I had heard that KF has a out clause if the Penn job opens. I had also heard that he was staying until his kids were out of school.

No way am I calling the West division 'Sippi Side'. Can you immasculate a division any more than that? Great, the 'Sippi Side' can compete for the 'Sippi Cup'...really, do we want that nickname?
