What’s KF’s record coming out of a bye week again?

Pair that with BF having never beaten a .500 team or better on the road....it’s hard to get optimistic about our chances in Madison this week.

I THINK it's 10-9 overall, but it's pretty miserable on the road. I think we're 3-8 away from Kinnick the week after a bye...not great.

1999
BYE: Week 4 (9/25/99)
GAME AFTER BYE: #14 Michigan State 49, Iowa 3 (East Lansing, MI)

2000

Iowa ended up with a double bye week in 2001 as a result of the games postponed after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Technically Iowa's bye week in the 2002 season was in Week 13, but that made for a pretty pointless bye, since Iowa's regular season was already done by then.

So I believe Ferentz is now 10-9 in bye games.
7-1 at home and 3-8 on the road.

Ferentz is 7-9 after bye weeks. 3-7 in away games post-bye week.

But to be fair, since '05 there have only been two home games in that sample.

2013 and 2014 were both double bye seasons. Iowa beat Mich in Iowa City after their second bye in 2013.

Iowa blew out NW in Iowa City after its 2nd bye in 2014

2019 is also a double bye season. Iowa beat MTSU in Iowa city earlier in 2019.

I forgot and skipped over those double byes, didn't revise it since you already had posted.

previous seasons outcomes bare absolutely nothing on this years... previous history either. It is good fodder tho but on Saturday the fact that WI has won 6 of the last 7 doesn't really matter towards deciding the outcome of that game. The fact that Iowa won like 16 in a row against them in the 70's and 80's doesn't matter either. But if you are optimistic about going on the road and winning against a top 15 team regardless of year in college football you're already way too optimistic. If Iowa wins it would be an upset and very much against the odds. If they lose, which is likely the outcome, don't be shocked.....because that's likely. If they win.... well, party.

Also checking why our home and away records still don't match. I believe the 1999 MSU game was at MSU, not in Iowa City.

So a better % at home than non-post-bye weeks and a little worse % on the road.

Of course each event like a coin flip of dice roll has it's own statistical probability and I agree with you that I think Iowa has about a 25% chance of winning this game. My take is Wisconsin has a better offense than Iowa overall while both teams defenses are about equal with Iowa maybe having an edge. But I dont like how Wisky ran the ball against the hawks last year and went with that jumbo package.

After 2 losses in a row for Wisky I think they will want to try to run over the hawks defense. And Iowa has had a problem, coaching and scheming, against Wisky's 3-4 defense.

Iowa will need some major big plays, better turnover margin, and kicking game to win this game.

agree. Wisci has been able to run the ball all season, Iowa has struggled to run even against opponents it should have been able to run against. Iowa is not likely going to win this game. I know that going in. If they do I will be very excited. I feel like we are due for this type of win as a program, yet, it's not like I expect it. If Iowa wins it could do a lot of things for the perception of the program. I really want it. But, it's not likely and I realize it's not likely for many teams to go on the road and win against a top 15 team.

What is big ten road record in general? Then if you stacked it from top level to bottom, just guessing in general if we play top teams on road our record is worse than playing crappy teams on the road.

Gotta wonder what records are of middle of the road big teams for comparison. The KF road record following a bye is abysmal
