Pair that with BF having never beaten a .500 team or better on the road....it’s hard to get optimistic about our chances in Madison this week.
This is a WAY bigger concern because of the Hawks' atrocious performance against good conference teams.Pair that with BF having never beaten a .500 team or better on the road....it’s hard to get optimistic about our chances in Madison this week.
Ferentz is 7-9 after bye weeks. 3-7 in away games post-bye week.
But to be fair, since '05 there have only been two home games in that sample.
I forgot and skipped over those double byes, didn't revise it since you already had posted.2013 and 2014 were both double bye seasons. Iowa beat Mich in Iowa City after their second bye in 2013.
Iowa blew out NW in Iowa City after its 2nd bye in 2014
2019 is also a double bye season. Iowa beat MTSU in Iowa city earlier in 2019.

I THINK it's 10-9 overall, but it's pretty miserable on the road. I think we're 3-8 away from Kinnick the week after a bye...not great.
good work here!1999

Edit:
So I believe Ferentz is now 10-9 in bye games.
7-1 at home and 3-8 on the road.
So a better % at home than non-post-bye weeks and a little worse % on the road.Yup, That's what I came up with too

previous seasons outcomes bare absolutely nothing on this years... previous history either. It is good fodder tho but on Saturday the fact that WI has won 6 of the last 7 doesn't really matter towards deciding the outcome of that game. The fact that Iowa won like 16 in a row against them in the 70's and 80's doesn't matter either. But if you are optimistic about going on the road and winning against a top 15 team regardless of year in college football you're already way too optimistic. If Iowa wins it would be an upset and very much against the odds. If they lose, which is likely the outcome, don't be shocked.....because that's likely. If they win.... well, party.
Of course each event like a coin flip of dice roll has it's own statistical probability and I agree with you that I think Iowa has about a 25% chance of winning this game. My take is Wisconsin has a better offense than Iowa overall while both teams defenses are about equal with Iowa maybe having an edge. But I dont like how Wisky ran the ball against the hawks last year and went with that jumbo package.
After 2 losses in a row for Wisky I think they will want to try to run over the hawks defense. And Iowa has had a problem, coaching and scheming, against Wisky's 3-4 defense.
Iowa will need some major big plays, better turnover margin, and kicking game to win this game.
