what year do you think jok becomes a starter at iowa?

I'm aware of what you're saying but how is that one of your conclusions he has a shot to be invited to the game? One of your 3 reasons why he has a chance to get invited is:

1. ESPN would push for a player with a compelling human-interest story to be selected for the game.

Are you saying you think he could be identical with a 5* top 20 talent level kid or what am I missing here?

My first conclusion is not meant to be only about Jok; I do that with my first assertion but not my first conclusion. My first conclusion is an attempt to, completely in a vacuum, assess ESPN's interests, as I think their interests affect who is selected for the game. It is only in my second and third conclusions that I bring Jok into play.

Man I wish some of our DB's backpedaled as well as you and Dave do...

Backpedaling? I've been making the same argument with the same assertions and conclusions all day. Can you show me where my assertions or conclusions have changed over time? I've worked to clarify them, but they haven't changed.

I guess what part of he WAS considered a top 20 talent BEFORE he got injuried, do you not understand? If you think that his injuries didn't affect his scholarship offers then that is on you, no one else.

A kid who is 15-16 years old and has two serious knee injuries is going to left behind. Many programs were going to evaluate him after his senior season since that would be when he was as close to 100% since he was 15 years old and before his injuries.

His "opinion" is right and a fact, anyone else's "opinion" is stupid.

And we won an Orange Bowl at that same time...is our football team identical to a top 20 team now?

INJURIES, you do know what those are right? He had two serious knee injuries that both required surgery at a very young age. Many coaching staffs were skeptical that he would ever be 100% again or be a huge risk of re-injuring both knees. His talent has never been in question.

The only person here who is backpedaling is you, since you don't want to address anything I have said. You fail to acknowledge anything anyone says because of your view of his offer list.

Iowa on the Orange bowl in January of '10, that was 3 years ago. Comparing a person's health and talent in basketball to a football team from three years ago to now makes little to no sense.

He was considered to be a top 20 player 3 years ago, had injuries and has said himself right now he's not back to what he was. So to say he could be identical to a top 20 player right now is delusional. The fact you thought being nominated to be a McDonald's All-American was a big deal and then someone actually thinks he has a chance to be invited is ridiculous.

In your post, you are clearly trying to compare his health to his talent. Those are two totally different things. Agreed if he isn't 100% he won't play as well but that doesn't mean he doesn't have the same TALENT.

I made a mistake, I admitted it like an adult. Clearly you never have made a mistake in your entire life because if you did you wouldn't be such a huge a-hole to people.

You haven't backpedaled? So you're still sticking by what you first said?

"I think there's actually a better than 0% chance he gets selected for the game. He's got a pretty compelling human-interest story, so I could ESPN pushing for him to make the game."

Yes. I stick by that statement. The beauty is that since I place the odds so low, even if he isn't picked, I can argue that I gave him really low odds anyway. Win/Win.

OK well I don't think anyone in the selection committee even knows who Peter Jok is, let alone know his background. To think that they know both and there is a chance they would push to have him play over 4* and 5* players is crazy.

The fact we're even discussing his chances to be a McDonald All American is laughable...let's just end it at that

You are laughing because you think he doesn't have the talent. Everyone else thinks he won't make it because he isn't 100% and since his injuries he was either in surgery, recovering and rehabing during the prime recruiting time in his HS years and for that he lost alot of interest from schools and getting exposure that he might if he hadn't gotten injuried.

There is a huge difference between not having the talent at all and spending the past 2 years injuried and trying to get healthy.

Which is exactly why its laughable that a McDonald's All-American selection committee even knows who he is.

Hey Panther, pretend you're a hawk fan for a second. If you could get the Orange Bowl team back this year wouldn't you be excited? Sure there is a chance that after 3 years of being injured they might not come back as strong. But there is also a chance that they have matured since last we saw them and they would come back better.

Just the chance that Jok comes back to be one of the best in the class is enough to get anyone excited. Let alone the fact that he is definitely a lights out shooter which we desperately need.

Hey, I agree, I didn't say they did "know" him or his story. But we believe it for two different reasons. I believeit because he got injuried and lost valuable time in recruiting and exposure. You don't believe he has the talent because of his lack of offers.

I agree with you 100%. My point is there's a CHANCE Jok comes back to be a game changer type player, it's not a sure thing. The hype over a kid that's a big IF is getting overplayed. Might want to hold off on starting threads about when he's going to start until he proves himself against someone who's not a 4-A basketball player.

Every one of your posts are in threads dealing with subjects you don't think we should talk about. You must really hate free speech.
