Please tell me i dont really have to explain why a kid not ranked in the top 150 of his class won't be selected to compete with the top 20 players in the country

Very well said, I just think some people tend to forget it's a big IF and not a guarantee. You're 100% correct though.
Korie Lucious 4 stars | PG | Milwaukee, WIPius XI | 5'10" | 160 | 4 stars | 5.8 | 9/24/06 |
Ok every one of your conclusions are incorrect. Is that better?

I think people didn't offer because they were skeptical of performance issues. But next year the whole nation is going to be envious once they see big peter with woody. That combination will be hard for most people to handle.
Don't forget about Sapp. With the way he's all over the place on D, he'll be a mess for the Big Ten to deal with.
That's better, buy do you care to elaborate as to why you think those conclusions are incorrect? I buy you thinking #3 is incorrect, though I'm giving him pretty low odds, but not so much the other two.
#1 ESPN would not bring on a kid with one BCS offer to play with the top talent in the country, no chance of that ever happening
#2 He would be out of place, these are the best players in the country, a kid not in the top 150 that nobody wanted would not fit in there, now ay.
#3 If you really think there is even half of a percentage chance Jok would be a McDonald's all american than you really don't understand how they select the players. They select on talent. No 3* has ever got invited to play in it. I think most people on this board would agree
Either you're missing my point on #1, or you're articulating yourself very poorly.
We'll have to agree to disagree on #2. He easily fits among the best players in the country now that he's healthy.
You're right that no 3-star has been selected and that they choose players based on talent. I think you'll find that when players are re-evaluated by the recruiting services following the season, Jok will no longer be a 3-star.
How am I missing your point on #1? There are a ton of players out there that have stories, no possible way ESPN would push for a kid that held offers from us and Drake to play in a McDonald's All American game. The fact you think there is a chance it can happen is delusional.
You're bringing too much extra into my first conclusion. What I'm saying is that all else being equal, ESPN like human interest stories. If they have a choice between two players that are identical in every single way, they would advocate for the player with the more compelling story every time.
How am I bringing too much into that first conclusion? You said I was missing the point of it, your point being:
1. ESPN would push for a player with a compelling human-interest story to be selected for the game.
So I explained why I thought that was ridiculous that was one of your conclusions. If a player was similar to him you could say that but obviously 5* top 20 kids aren't going to be even close to similar so it makes no sense to even bring that up
