As we know Iowa and Wisconsin are very similar. The difference will be who ever accomplishes their objective. Both want to stop the run, force the other team to pass. Iowa has good tight ends, Wisconsin has good tight ends. Wisconsin has the edge at WR and in the running game.
Wisconsin has the advantage of having two easy games to work out any problems. However, these games didn't really test Wisconsin. Iowa has had two good games. One was against a very good Iowa State team. Not that Northern Illinois was a slouch. However, New Mexico and Western Kentucky were pre season games at best for Wisconsin. This weekend's game is against a 1-1 BYU. BYU lost to a decent Cal team.
Overall Wisconsin has the statistical edge on Iowa in most categories. Iowa has two major advantages. The game is in Kinnick and Iowa has a dominating defensive line. Iowa's chance at an upset will depend on the defensive line winning the LOS battle. If Iowa dominates the LOS, they will produce more turnovers. A draw or less and Iowa's chances of winning are almost non existent.
This is a pivotal game for both teams. A Wisconsin victory seals up the West division for Wisconsin. If Iowa wants any national recognition they have to win this game. If Iowa loses it's likely another decent but average year for Iowa. 7-8 wins and a bowl game.
