What We Learned: Hawkeye Coordinators Press Conference

I've never second guessed myself, except for when I second guessed myself.

“I don’t think I’ve ever second-guessed anything I’ve done. There are certainly things I wish in retrospect I would have done differently or called a different play. If one play works, it’s probably a good call. If it doesn’t work, you probably should have called something else.”

I suppose he meant actively or at present time second guessed himself vs. hindsight 20/20.

There's definitely times when making a decision I looked to someone, and asked what would you do? I guess he wouldn't ask for help input.

Literally read the transcript and then came here to post this. What a dumbass. That's literally the definition of second guessing.

Bummer that Neiman got hurt. Hopefully he only misses one game. That being said, we have some options at LB. I think everyone is stepping up there.

I think the focus is right on by the comments. Everyone knows they can play better and need to clean things up. That usually bodes well for iowa...no one is hanging their head...they have something to prove. Once again, I'll say it...recruiting has gotten better even if the star ratings haven't. I watched Brents and Colbert pretty closely the other day...those two dudes are going to be really, really good football players. Ojemudia better watch who is coming up behind him. They are athletic and aren't afraid to get in the mix. We are still a really, really young football team. If we can win 9-10 games this year...with the youth we have...with all the 2nd year players...well...the big improvement usually happens in years 3-5...especially on defense.

Everyone says the exact same thing after every loss. "We need to work harder, clean some things up." How often do they actually do that? Not very. Colbert should be starting instead of Welch. Welch spent most of last Saturday on his back. Ojemudia is awful in pass coverage. He doesn't have a clue where the ball is at, or the receiver for that matter. We were facing a very average qb, and he picked the secondary apart.

I know I've mentioned this before, but BF is one of the most arrogant people I've ever met.

Who in the hell hasn't second guessed themselves?

Not surprising. He is modeling the two most recent head coaches he has worked for.

I guess we stick to the plan no matter what. Our 6'5" TE is alone on the wide side of the field covered by a 5"11" CB. Well, the play book tells us to run a toss sweep to the short side. That is the plan. After all football is a very static sport. We didnt call a pass to the receiver that is a TD machine. So we cant throw it to him.

Unbelievable.

Us fans is stupid 2nd guessing BF.

So apparently there is no plan to change our punt returner per the press conference. At the very least there should be a renewed competition you would think? Possibly involving Amani Hooker?

So KF is risk adverse and prefers ball security and good decision making over all else. Our returner fair caught on the 3, fumbled when barely touched and lunged toward the ball while opposing players surrounded it. And I mentioned this after the game that some of you might unfairly be going after Beyer on the "kick" play. And now both BF and Woods are being very vague but admitting there was a lack.of communication or miscommunication on that play saying it is a "team thing". Woods does admit that the quarterback of the return team is the returner himself and basically he is not blaming Beyer. Hmmm. KF mentioned postgame that there WAS communication on that play. Hmmm. Is it possible for a returner to quarterback the return team while lunging at the ball?

So KF has to know how viciously Beyer was attacked. It would be nice at some point if HE would make a more forceful statement defending his player since apparently HE was mistaken about the "communication" thing.

I too found this just plain screwed up. This is so revealing about BF, KOK, KF and how they go about their shit show of offensive football. What a joke. Seriously.

I also couldn't believe BF telling us how the officials have convinced him to never challenge a call. Wow.
I always thought a timeout is sometimes warranted to give the booth officials plenty of time to look at a play??

That's funny. Just had an image of Frankenstein (BF) stalking the sideline having temper tantrums.
You have to at least admit he doesn't have your typical OC temperment.
I wonder if there's a gif or video of Doyle stepping in between BF and the ref from the last game. If you missed it, it was pretty funny. Brian was going off on a ref, then we see Doyle step in saying something to Brian without looking at him or the ref as if he was just casually walking by having a conversation to himself. Kirk literally has Doyle watching Brian to make sure he doesn't re-enact what he did in the press box.

That’s football.

I saw it. Yeah he is no Sean Payton at this point. He should probably stick to focusing on his next brilliant playcall. Oh wait. That was determined on Friday night.

You have a junior qb. You go to the line and notice your All-American TE has that obvious mismatch. You have telegraphed you are running the ball on 4th and 1. You can't prepare for a scenario like that and have your junior qb audibilize into a simple toss to him?

Oh wait. That was determined on Friday night. Such sophistication.
