What RB(s) need to really show up on Saturday

A lot of people are thinking this is a canzeri/wadley game but i'm thinking an aggressive and determined LeShun Daniels might be our best chance at a victory. If he can hit the holes HARD and just take the small gains, we can keep the offense on schedule and pile up time of possession. I'm just not sold on the idea of canzeri or even wadley consistently getting the edge on msu.

Well I tell you that both Canzeri and Wadley can run between the tackles. Canzeri can usually gouge out 3 yards if there is only a slight hole. Wadley runs with surprising power.

I really like Daniels running but when there isnt much of a hole he tends to, I dont know, pitter patter and dance instead of just plowing ahead. Daniels has really good feet and usually a great first cut.

I am hoping that Wadley is 100%.

MSU has a really good Dee line but avg lnbkrs according to analysts and usually coaches like to run straight at athletic defenses and trap them.

So mix in the running backs and see who is hot at finding the creases.

Well Leshun really ran poorly against Nebraska. Very tentative. This seems to happen often. I just hope KF has a short leash if he decides to start him. We can't waste a few series to start the game. We need to send a message to Sparty by scoring on our first drive.

I would start Canzeri. He doesn't get enough credit for running tough between the tackles but I have a feeling KF will want to try and pound with Daniels. Seems to be his first inclination.

I would love to see Canzeri and Wadley and a few carries to Daniels in short down situations. We have to get Sparty to respect the play action and our best shot for that is Canzeri IMO.

But not just play action. I would really love to see some quick hitters to TEs. Not sure if Nebraska did a better job of covering the TE after the 1st quarter but we really stopped going there in that game.

How about some swing passes to Canzeri and Wadley and get those guys out in space.?

Anyway, should be exciting game. I am pumped. i like our chances if we don't turn the ball over. And we haven't.

CJ Beathard.

The more I think about it, the more I think the key to victory is CJB needs to given permission to run on every play if that is the key to getting a first down. He will have a month to get healthy after this game.

The entire O-line needs to show up.

I'm really concerned about stopping Shilique Calhoun. Dude is a monster.

The ideal scenario is that you start with Canzeri and Wadley with some long runs for three quarters, then unleash the hammer Daniels when we're up 10 points in the fourth quarter to wear out a broken down defense.

Man, that would be sweet.

I'm really hoping that, early on, Mitchell is in on 3rd down and instead of going straight pass, they hand it off on a draw. It's just a little wrinkle and will give MSU something else to think about later on in the game. Besides that, Plewa/Cox are going to have to come up huge in this game and open up some holes for Canzeri and Daniels.

with Mstates front four it is more so on Iowa's Oline. If Oline handels Mstate front four then Brian deserves a big old fat raise!

I am not sure if Wadley is still hurt, but could use a player that can "get small".

I also see a few more passes to the RB's this game. Add to the balance to keep the D honest. I also want to see a wheelroute but the O-line will have to give CJB time.

I think Wadley has the potential to win this game for us like he did the NW game. I read that Wadley has a 1.42 ten yard split time, not sure if true, but that's super fast. The NFL combine record is 1.40 by Chris Johnson.

If there healthy I feel we will see all three in the game. Then go with the hot hand.

Agree. Just would like to see Canzeri start.

Also, I heard Chuck Long on the radio yesterday giving his analysis. He believes CJ could have a breakout game. Stastistically that is. Sparty could be tough to run against and are more susceptible in the secondary.

The problem is our passing game is based on play action. Hopefully we have practiced some out of the shotgun this week as well, as I think it's fair to say our line has done a better job in run blocking vs pass protection.

It will be interesting to see the game plan GD/BF/KF implement Saturday night. Probably been some sleepless nights.

OR

There won't be any wrinkles. KF will say, "Here we are, try and stop us".

I'm not sure that it matters which running back.. its gonna come down to our O-line vs their D-line.

But if I had to chose, i'd say Canzeri will come ready to run like he's never ran before. (I'm basing this on him being a senior and his ability to show up in big time situations.

Canzeri deserves to start. Hopefully mix in Wadley if healthy. Wear on them with Daniels later on, if possible.

I agree with this. Totally.

How often do they leave Myers on an island against their stud end? Really worried about this one. Probably my biggest concern. Keep a TE in to help will limit that weapon, but this could be trouble if we dont.

If I recall correctly, KF chose not to give Croston much help in his first start. Was it Pitt?? And announcer, Millen?? didn't think it was fair to Croston.

So are the Ferentz's inclined to NOT give help. Just curious? I haven't studied line play that closely.

Is this the best front four we have faced all year??

I like how they mixed it up and used all 3 early against NE and expect something similar. Keep them off balance and not able to just key in too easily. Canzeri being in and the threat of the screen game will be big. I think we'll gash them a time or two with that because of their over aggressiveness. I hope to see it on early downs not just a 3rd and long situation

All of them ... and everybody on the team needs to bring it ... balls to the walls boys and leave it on the field. We have a month to rest after this one. Go Hawks.

Morehouse said he thinks we'll see Wadley twice in his podcast. That usually means something.

The Oline needs to be fired up. All 3 backs have proved they can run. Give them a few holes and they can all have solid games.

If we can have some success running early, PA will be effective.

Play well Hawks !
