What opponent's or other teams plays would you like Iowa to use?

I thought the Penn St long screen to the boundary against us really gave us problems. I think Bruce or Jones catching the ball that wide with a block or two could make for some big plays. Plus that formation look when it works has to stretch a defense to the outside away from the box.

I thought Illinois did a very good job early in the game with them and the first half throwing to their running back out toward the sideline. And it wasnt your normal swing pass but the running back took about a 45 degree angle out and beat the coverage and was already about 5+ yards downfield. If the cover guy is lined up too far inside playing run that seems to be a really good, quick read and check down for a good gain.

I dont know that many teams ran a shovel pass this year but I do not remember the hawks doing it, maybe once or twice. But just a little motion to the side by the qb and running back and then bringing a receiver or TEnd across the backfield side of the LOS for a shovel pass can work well and it is usually very safe.

A few more halfback or wide receiver pass plays a year than maybe the one we tried. If schemed correctly and the deep receiver is covered then make sure another receiver is available for a shorter pass.

I like a lot of our running plays and blocking when we have the Oline to do it but I would like to see a little more counter running plays somehow used just to keep opponents from always crashing down to the first direction the hawks move.

The play where Patrick Mahomes evades two pass rushers, runs outside the pocket, jukes another guy, and throws a perfect strike 35 yards down the field while running full speed. Or the play where Cam Newton, Terrelle Pryor or Cardale Jones watches all the receivers run way down the field and then tucks the ball and runs for 15 yards.

False.

2004 Wildcard game at Lambeau Field. Daunte Culpepper to Randal Newnon Portsmouth Gene Moss for 6 points and a full moon.

I get real jelly watching the 49ers offense. I'd love for Iowa's offense to be a college version of it. They still run lots of zone blocking plays, with counters and misdirection off of it. Get yourself a quality TE and use him all over the place. Doesn't seem to require elite QB talent to run.
