What is worse...2 close losses to Mich and Penn st or road loss to Ilini

At least for the day...it feels a little better. Probably short lived with our very good soccer team trotting out their next week.

Iowa's losses are more costly, two opportunities to get "back on the map" with a talented team with the most experienced QB in the conference, pissed along the way...The Kirk narrative

Wisconsin is already there... But God Bless the Illini!

I hear what you're saying but I'd argue Wisconsin's loss is more costly because they went from possible playoff team to no chance of making the playoffs.

Well after today, looks a little more likely Hawks do all 3 (home, not @ Lovie, but still).

Throw those hats!

Illinois beating Wisconsin...sweet! Doesn't get much better, but, let's have Iowa dump them in Madison as well.

I vote Illinois over Wisconsin. Iowa's losses were to two ranked opponents with one of them on the road. Wisconsin's loss was self inflicted to an team not ranked. I do believe Illinois offense has improved a lot. They got back in the game against Michigan two weeks ago.

I would say all the Wisconsin loss to Illinois, along with Ohio St’s thrashing of a Northwestern team that gave the Badgers a great game in Madison proves is that The Buckeyes are far better any other team in the conference and at this point are my favorite to win the CFP. A lot of Georgia fans are losing their crap over Fromm’s QB play right now while looking across the country and watching JF play at an elite level and knowing Kirby Smart is the reason he’s gone.

With Hayden Fry you knew what you were getting. You'd beat the schools you were supposed to and then prayed for good fortune when you went up against the blue bloods. And JHF did beat the blue bloods on occasion - Texas/Mich/OhioState/etc., but he was a master at crushing lesser programs like Iowa State. Which he helped make lesser by demoralizing them.

Kirk has been masterful at winning games against superior foes. Florida/LSU/OhioState/etc. But he has done something which infuriates the fanbase and with good reason. He can crush Ohio State and Nebraska in the same season he loses to Purdue . . . or beat 2nd ranked Michigan and a ranked Nebraska team in the same season he loses to fricken North Dakota state. I'm sorry but if you're team is good enough to beat the 2nd ranked team in the nation and you lose to an FCS school, that's bad coaching. The thing that demoralizes and splits the fanbase is the last sentence.

50% of the fanbase think beating Michigan with a squad not good enough to win against NDSU is a sign of great coaching. The other 50% agree with me, it's the opposite of good coaching. Beating the 2nd ranked team in the nation is a sign you have the horses to beat NDSU, and you didn't.

I'll take beating the teams we should every year and then praying for good luck on the days we play blue bloods. With KF it doesn't matter who we are playing, you have to pray for good luck every Saturday of the season cuz he's proven we play to the level of our competition. I don't like that. Under Hayden we beat UNI like 66-0 and Iowa State like 56-7. Superior programs should dominate and humiliate inferior programs, the way I dominate and humiliate cousinbreeder. In the hyper-feminized world we live in 50% of the people don't like that style. They live for "classy" where we keep the score close every game because we are sensitive to other's feelings. Sorry, that's not what competition is about imo. Every single second of a sporting contest you play to crush your opponent. That's why people watch football and watch NASCAR, they want to see a crash with a car on fire. If you want to see non-violence go watch a chess match. But even in that realm there is serious pyschological violence. You don't think Bobby Fisher enjoyed destroying his opponent? And would do anything to achieve that outcome? Think again.

Or.......angels advocate here cause i don't work for the other guy......maybe what it means is that when your team executes at its highest ability you have the horses to beat a #2 ranked team, and when that same talent level team doesn't execute as well, because you're missing 2/5 of your starting oline in the game in question, you also have a team that can lose to a top level NDST team.

The obvious take away from this whole thing is that there's a lot more parity on college football than there was when HF was here. Sure there are some of the same teams winning titles every year but for the most part, teams outside of the top 10 are much more balanced than they were 30 years ago.

Bobby Fischer once called chess "the most violent sport in the world." And yes he would live to watch his opponent squirm in their chair when he had them on the ropes.

Fischer's explanation on the violence of chess was that it was your mind vs your opponents. That's it. No coaches, teammates, officials, weather conditions, or bounce of rhe ball.

A fascinating study has caught some traction the last couple years. They say a chess player can burn as many calories in one match as a distance runner participating in a 10k. They burn up the calories merely with the concentration level required to compete in world class chess.
