What is it going to take? How bad does it have to get???????

I guess the way I see it, people have the right to post complaints about the coaching staff if they want. Yeah, it's repetetive. Yeah, it gets old. But this is a message board, and this is the USA, where I thought freedom of speech was still a right?

My guess is that those who complain about threads like this disagree with the premise of what the OP is saying, so why not start threads of your own, stating YOUR position on Iowa Football instead of telling people to stop posting opinions that you disagree with?

Besides, what else is there really to talk about right now? With 3-straight down/disappointing seasons, you could say that Iowa Football has been repetetive (and not in a good way), so the message board topics are going to follow suit.

Yes, it's foolish to expect a fan base that is ticked off, because of the downward direction of this program, not to want to vent at how inept the coach is. For those still needing proof.....

1. Three straight seasons where expectations have not come close to being met.
2. A significant decline in talent.
3. Absolutely horrible offenses for most of ferentz' season here
4. 114th rated offense this year.
5. A coach who conducts himself like there is nothing big that's wrong.

I could go on, but hopefully the ferentz apologists get it by now.

This thread is really pretty short if you have FREED, or fred, or comachero, or whatever his name is on your ignore list. Highly recommended.

Oh..............your little feelings hurt because you can't handle the truth? No need to answer. We all know the answer that question. Thanks for not paying attention to what I write. Oh, wait, you just did read. Seriously, please stop responding to my posts. I'd like people who can critically think to read and respond, no matter if they agree or disagree with me.

I agree with your list with the exception of #1, that is on each fan individually and personally how they feel their expectations are met. A fan who wants an NC every year is going to be extremely disappointed, hell a fan who wants a winning record (more than 1 or 2 games over .500) and a decent bowl game every year is probably going to be disappointed.

Me personally, it isn't about a record or a particular bowl game as I am never disappointed in the team with the exception of 2007, that team still ticks me off. What I am disappointed in is KF inability to adapt/adjust to his teams ability/talent/skill level with the exception of Brad Banks in 2002 and then adjusting to his opponents as well, for example he even says his style of play is going to cause them to be in alot of close games and they always seem to play down to their opponents level and in recent seasons and especially this year, they are playing below their opponents level and clearly losing games that they should win.

2007 ticked you off, but 2010 didn't. Don't understand that, but ok.

You mention the foolishness of ferentz not to adapt to the talent he has on the field. Nothing new. It will continue even if he doesn't win a game next year. That's why he needs to go somehow.

I think at some point KF would step down. Maybe if next yr we were under .500 or worse and prospects for 2014 were grim with returning players. I just don't think he would ride the contract out if the program is on continual decline. I'm naive too :)

2007 I blame on both the staff and the players (e.i. Jake Christensen mostly, hate that guy, heard from guys who met him he was a huge D.B.), he blamed the 2007 season on previous team leadership inparticularly Drew Tate. Which JC being the best available QB had to do with recruiting which in turn is on the staff more so than the team but they just seemed to really quit in games. 2010 ****** me off but I blame the coaches for that year. The defensive line needed more substitutions all year long. They d-line was always gassed in the 4th quarter. Iowa lost almost off 5 games that year in the 4th quarter that year, something like they lost the lead in the last 4 minutes in 4 of the loses.

You are right, this won't change as long as Ferentz is coach. That is why he needs to go and also that is why most of the time I am fully behind the players but never KF or the staff. They don't put the players into position to be successful, just my personal opinion.

I dont' see him stepping down because of 2 main reasons. (1) He has a son on staff and one on the team. (2) He has a guaranteed contract and he doesn't care what anyone thinks of him or the program.

People can say what they want about KF but he is a competitor (like all coaches), he truly believes this staff and players can turn this ship around. I disagree, I don't think they can because I think he is too married to his style of play and it can't win without top level talent or at least better schemes on offense and defense. See most of Hawkeye Gamefilms tweets and write ups on game analysis.

I truly believe in Unicorns but that doesn't mean I'm going to see one romping through the magical foresst anytime soon. Ferentz OUT!

As I said earlier in respond to FreedComanche, a lot of people make fun of Ferentz by saying "The definition of insanty is doing the samething, over and over expecting different results".

So Ferentz can't do it with the football team on the field because it is insane from a football prospective but it is ok to keep starting the same old and tired threads on a message board?

I understand what you are trying to say. However, a coach continuing to do the same things that don't work is different than people on a message board venting frustration with him. By venting frustration and pointing out how foolish he is could hamper ticket sales and cause donations to go down. In turn, that could put pressure on him from the AD and big boosters.

Again, I understand your point, but it's not quite the same thing. And, yeah, I understand you getting tired of reading threads that are similar to one another.

You're a good dude Freed. I know it is different and you are just standing up for what you believe in and that is important.

I just wish Iowa didn't have to suck for him to leave (bought out or whatever), that is what I think really sucks. Now Sally Mason is gone, I just hope that Barta isn't too far behind.

I just don't see how else he goes without taking the program down first. The contact is too strong. I think he's nuts to leave that much money on the table. I wouldn't leave either.

Who knows? Maybe he wins 9 games next year. LOL................

Agreed, I don't see how it happens any other way. I don't blame him for staying but I think for him it is more than money like I said above he truly believes in himself, this staff and his players.

Are you sure you run your Army without foul langauge or booze, I know you are being sacrcastic but if anyone can claim right now realistically that they see 9 wins next season, they have to be completely drunk or the biggest Iowa homer ever. Unless they are crazy like Herby!

We "Ferentz apologists" as you like to call us, get it, we just don't agree with it! So, in response to your "proof", 1: Depends on whose expectations you are going by, doesn't it? I certainly didn't have any expectations this year after losing our best defensive players & our best wide receiver. 2. Every team loses players, Iowa just doesn't have a big surplus to fall back on when they do. 3. This is K.F's style of play. Always has been & it was good enough when we were winning. 4. Perhaps having a new offensive coordinator had a little something to do with that. 5. I see a coach who knows they weren't good this year, but is a very private guy who keeps his emotions inside.

I truly think they need to take a hard look at Gary Barta. He makes a terrible hire with Lickliter and then signs Ferentz until the end of time after one good season. Honestly, it was a good season, but there were at least four games that we were lucky to win that season. It wasn't coaching that won those games, we actually had some play makers on the field that made things happen. In my opinion, Barta and Ferentz need to be fired.

Look, conservative football is successful. Just look to Alabama. Problem with Iowa is their lack of a solid defense. If Ferentz wants to be a successsful conservative football coach, he needs defensive schemes (or athletes) that make the defense stronger.
