Me...

Football - Haven't missed a game on TV, radio, or in person since before I can remember. Probably in the 80s if I had to guess and I'm 45 years old. Always had a wonderful connection with my now deceased old man and same with my son now, too many tender memories to stop ever. I would follow Iowa football just as closely if we had five 0-12 seasons in a row.

Wrestling - Same as above. Holds a very, very special place in my heart. Long time season ticket holder since I was an adult and even though not all matches are televised I always try to find the radio feed if I can't watch.

MBB - Also similar to football from the 80s onward, although the last couple years my attention has admittedly waned. It got to be so bland it was tough to make a point of it, and all the fire Fran shit grated on me too much. Once the Garza/Murrays era ended I fell off a little. I'll tune in again to see what Run BMC and crew are all about.

Baseball - Follow results and watch when able.

WBB - Don't follow at all. No knock on the sport itself but it isn't exciting for me. If I said it was I'd be lying and I ain't gonna lie. The Clark and Bluder hype train was cool and all and I respect the sport and its players, just not my bag.

Track and Field - Follow results, I got really into T&F and XC once it became a big part of my son's life. I follow Team USA, college, and HS in general.

Other sports - Do not follow.

Football

WBB....since Clark's sophomore year. Surprised at how much I continue to watch, pay attention to, and invest my blood pressure in post Clark. To be fair, I went to more women's games than men's games when I was a student. Cheap entertainment. No hassle. No crowds. No giving up a big night at the bars. Just something to do and it was basketball I could understand. Also, they're social media is very good. And the teammates seem to legitimately have a lot of fun playing a game. Which...appeals to me.

And that's about it. I will be aware of how the men's team is doing. And will watch an occasional game if it shows up when I'm surfing. Probably about 2-3 a year. I will and have bandwagoned and been slightly invested, watching maybe up to 3-4 games and then watching Big 10 tourney games.

I will pay attention to wrestling when it's tourney time. I might actually watch a bit of a regular season match....if it comes up when I'm surfing.

Baseball? Basically only if they're in the tourney and they pop up while I'm surfing. Very rare.

I do google to see how the field hockey team is doing? They've been pretty good for a few years. We happened to watch a game when I took my kid up there for prospective student day about 4 years ago. Went to the sports hall of fame and they play right there. We watched them through the fence as they knocked off Michigan who was ranked higher. Couldn't tell you how the game is played. To us, it seemed like a terribly strategic game. Like 50/50 strategy and skill. You could have all the skill in the world, but will lose without strategy. Meanwhile with good strategy and average skill, you can win. That year Iowa got bumped in the semifinals by Northwestern. Turns out I have an old acquaintance who's daughter played for Northwestern. So, for those two reasons, I am slightly invested in Iowa field hockey. Enough to look them up every couple weeks basically to see if they're still ranked.

Same here. I'm 67. Grew up listening to Zabel on WHO. Then went to Iowa...strudent season tickets (78-82). 1980s...then watched the KCRG replays after listening. 1990s...even when I was stationed overseas, I somehow managed to listen/see 75% of the games. Was a season ticket owner for awhile. Now I subscribe to several streaming services and don't miss one minute...I arrange every game day around it. Have gone to two games this year. I've been to every road stadium (sans Nebby and new West coast teams), six bowl games, two B1G champ games. Looking at Pacha/Mediadcom-level tix next year. Yeah. I'm definitely an addict.

Went to most meets as a student. Can't say I've watched a match since, but I do follow the results. Knew most of the wrestlers.

I follow closely. Watch as much as I can. Went to Iowa when a BB ticket was harder to get than a FB ticket (78-82). Never missed a game in fours years unless I went home on Christmas break. This year I'm really going to dive deep into the roster to figure out what's what. I do one NCAA bracket each year.

Baseball - Follow results and watch when able.
Meh. I follow the results.

WBB - Don't follow at all. No knock on the sport itself but it isn't exciting for me. If I said it was I'd be lying and I ain't gonna lie. The Clark and Bluder hype train was cool and all and I respect the sport and its players, just not my bag.
Watched them for two years. I follow results now.

I love TF. Follow HS results all season long. Live-stream HS stuff. Iowa, I don't watch, but I'll follow results.

Other sports - Do not follow.
Same...none.

Save yourself the money and more importantly the time. Lincoln's dump, stadium's a dump, fans are 3rd generation inbred, most underwhelming experience in college sports.

Been a baseball guy my whole life, played through college and coached up to HS level. Umpired for years.

Never thought I'd say this but I enjoy HS track&field/cross country meets more than baseball games. Once you learn the sports and get in tune with different events and what average, exceptional, and elite times are, it's frickin thrilling to watch good ones. So much fun, I'm thankful my son dragged me into that world once it was apparent he was getting to the elite (HS) level. All his work, none mine.

Football I've followed ever since I was a kid too. I remember folks taking us to their friends parties for bowl games in the early 80s. Great memories

Wrestling I only follow occasionally whenever it kinda came up and if I was channel surfing and it was on I would. But I couldn't tell you who all was at what weights or their records or anything like that.

MBB same as football BJ Armstrong is my all time fav Hawk for everything hands down.

WBB I've started following since Clarks soph yr and saw every game her JR/Sr yr and have kept up with it since. Clark effect got me hook line and sinker it's been fun.

T&F not at all I know Timmy Dwight and Danan Hughes used to do it but that's about all I know

Beyond that baseball I only heard about when I stubbled upon it on BTN. Which isn't much

I followed Arthur Wojdat in the in the 1988 and 1992 Olympics and rooted for him even though he was racing for his native Poland (GO WORLD!). I'm kind of an Olympic junky and he came to my PE swimming class when I was a freshman. I'm assuming the TA or whoever taught the class was on the swim team too and invited him to come by and show off. That TA was cool and let us jump off the high platform on the last day of class. Probably could have got him fired. That was actually terrifying. Also, why did they make us get PE credits? That sucked.

Football - is a must and always has been...enough said.

Wrestling - I watched a lot of their duels since the 90's or so and the NCAA's. Stinks that the program isn't what it once was, but nothing lasts forever.

MBB - still have a photo of myself as a kid in my Michael Payne #42 t-shirt standing with Lute Olson and probably have way more memories of the basketball teams from the past than any other Iowa sport. I really haven't had that same feeling since the Davis days (Loved Marble), but still watch when the team is interesting. Hopefully that starts up again. Fingers crossed.

WBB - Have followed off and on since the C Vivian Stringer days since they were always pretty good, but over the last 10 years or so, have watched and followed at closer. Good future ahead.

Baseball - They've been pretty decent over the years, but nothing gangbusters. Worth a watch when I find it on tv.

Other sports - Not much Hawkeye history to write home about with the other sports other than the women's field hockey team is always really good. Just not main stream enough around here to garner much excitement.

Hawkeye sports is really #1 for a lot of us in the older generations because we had so few options on tv and the football and men's basketball teams were ALWAYS on tube. We knew when we heard Larry Morgan and Mac McCausland, it was time for Hawkeye basketball and it was for every single game. They were part of our extended family. I met Mac at a bar in Cedar Falls years ago and he couldn't have been nicer. I don't think the newer generations have that same connection, maybe I'm wrong.

Go Hawks!!!

Football -

My dad went to Iowa in the 1930s and was a diehard Hawkeye fan. That was back when they had a scoreboard on the Pentracrest and for away games someone would call in a score long distance to update the scoreboard, I've seen pics where the Pentacrest was packed with fans. Anyway, Dad started taking my brother and I to Hawk football games in the late 50s, one game a year, it was a 230 or so mile drive one way and this was before interstates. I was hooked. Much like Fry I don't miss much in the way of Iowa football, never have even after living out of Iowa for over 40 years now. I am an alum.

Wrestling - I follow the results, pay some attention, read the outcomes by the weights, turn in sometimes on TV when available. Ever since Sanderson's run at Penn St, it's gotten a bit tougher to follow.

MBB - have followed them just like football, even thru the last lean years of Fran ball. It was getting tougher to watch the last couple years, but I watched. Really looking forward to BM ball.

WBB - Catilin Clark hooked me starting about her sophomore year. I've continued to watch since she left and am hopeful Jan Jensen has them headed in the right direction. She seems to have them going after elite players and, so far, succeeding. I'm looking forward to this year. I'll watch all the games I can and now that I have a Peacock trial evven more so.

Baseball - I've always paid some attention to baseball but more so the last few years as they've had some success. Two years ago, the team brought in pitcher Anthony Watts, whose dad is from my hometown of Diagonal, I'm even his dad's Facebook friend. So that local tie had me paying even more attention, reading the box scores, etc. Anthony is now in the Marlins' minor league system. Then this last year the hawks brought in Jaixen Frost from my HS alma mater, Mt Ayr. (Diagonal and Mt Ayr are 12 miles apart) Jaixen's grandmother is from Diagonal, and I know most of his family on that side. Jaixen was on the B1G freshman team last year so that was fun to follow. Jaixen should be with the Hawks the next couple of years. With two local ties to the team, I did find myself following more closely, that's how small-town Iowa works, right!

Other sports - Again the local ties play a part here. The Iowa women's volleyball brought in a freshman this year, Mekenna Rumple, who also has Mt Ayr ties. Her dad, Brad, taught at Mt Ayr for 20 or so years and married a Mt Ayr gal whose family I know fairly well. Brad and Marcy got divorced and he moved to Mesa, AZ, remarried and had two kids, Mekenna being one of them. She's 6'1", a good height for volleyball but I have started paying attention to this team, which seems to be pretty although Mekenna isn't playing much, I'm guessing she's being redshirted. She's got some half-siblings still in Iowa and her half-sister, Morgan, an Iowa St grad says this is the only time in her life she will ever root for the Hawkeyes!! Go Hawks............
