That said, if Ballard is really nearing 300 lbs, with his production and quickness, shouldn't he be projecting as a big-time NFL prospect? Its hard not to think like a homer, and maybe its just b/c Clayborn gets all the (well deserved) attention, but Ballard is a very large, very quick/fast DLman.
Unfortunately, having two all-Americans on the DL is really a two-step process: 1) having two worthy DLmen; and 2) having both recognized as such?
In my opinion, #1 is possible, but very unlikely, considering the sheer number of teams and #2 is virtually certain not to happen. (As an example, South Florida, of all schools, has one of the top DLmen in the draft this year.)

Problem with this is people know that Iowas line as a whole is top notch and i dont think they will be able to gameplan against just one guy. But as you said IF ballard or binns put up numbers similar to clayborns last season there could be two.I think with all the attention Clayborn gets it will actually make it easier for Binns or Ballard to get attention too. Clayborn is a preseason All-American, and let's say he has a season similiar to last season, there's a good chance he makes 1st team All-American. Now let's say Ballard or Binns just throw up some ridiculous sack numbers in large part to teams game planning to stopping Clayborn, with the publicity Iowa's D-line will get, mostly due to Clayborn, they could have a shot at the recognition needed to become an All-American too. Very unlikely but not impossible.
Cannot remember when it happened,so chances are slim and none.
There are almost 500 d-linemen in Div 1...having two of the top four from one team is just not going to happen, even if they were deserving..writers like to spread the awards around.
