WE'RE BACK

Anthony Hubbard says hello!

Glad we have the standard that once you're the 70th best team in the nation at the end of March means you're back.

This coming from a fanbase who considers 3 straight losing seasons success. Truly comical. So Pwoud. How many conference wins this year guy? 2? 3? Hell maybe snaggletooth will finally eclipse that 3 mark.

Hilarous. Why would you turn a basketball thread into a football thread? Good reason for ISU football fans to be excited. At least they don't have recent humiliating losses to the likes of Minnesota, Central Michigan and Indiana and are making post-season appearances. Not to mention lost the past two to ISU and travel to Ames this year with a starting QB who has taken zero snaps under center.

I'll be ready for another one of these post-game scripted lines from Ferentz this year with zero passion or fire: "Give credit to Central Michigan they're a tremendous ball club all the credit goes to them." Ferentz is an incredible coach and I respect what he has done in Iowa City but G D at least Rhoads doesn't let Directional Michigan school walk into his house and act like a loss is acceptable. I love CPR's fire and would not trade it for anything. A little of that is sorely needed in Iowa City right now. That's my opinion as a fan who likes to see successful programs in the state.

Iowa State must really be lost if they've dropped the past two to Iowa State, and have to travel to L'Ames.

WTF, You complain that someone brought football to a BB thread.....then your whole post is about football?

Lets try to get you back on track. When Niang Avg 15 PPG, and the Cyclone miss the NCAA next year, are they no longer back? Cause that what's gonna happen next year.

Good grief it's going to a long time till hoops. Gotta quit looking at these basketball threads. The anticapation is killing me. WERE BACK!!!!

Those reasons would be what? That Roads hasn't matched his first season win total since then? That he's never won more than 3 B12 games? That they went from 8th to 9th in the B12 from last season to this year? The blowout bowl loss to Tulsa? I don't think a program that's stagnant at best is really a reason to get excited.

If you think ISU will finish any lower than 4th in the Big 12 next year well you're wrong. They will make the NCAA tournament for the third year in a row in what is supposed to be a "rebuilding year" I'm very confident Niang will average over 15. As for the Hawks, you should have your best team in nearly a decade next year. Get ready for the wheels to fall off if Iowa doesn't make the tournanment.

Wow. In the past few years the team you're boasting has lost twice to Minnesota. A humiliating loss to Indiana with 500 people in the stands. A loss in your own stadium to...is it...Central Michigan? I've never heard of them. Not to mention back-to-back losses to the team you are discussing above including a loss this year in your home stadium. That is embarassing. Go back and look at the past few years of ISU football point out the awful losses like that to me.

You mention the bowl game loss above to C-USA champ Tulsa. Buddy at least we're making bowl games. What did the Hawks finish last year with that joke of a schedule again? 4 wins and sitting at home during bowl season. I'm sure Iowa fans would be ecstatic this year with a bowl game. Any bowl game!

You need to pace yourself. Consider your wad blown. You are better to save your ammo for multiple irrelevant attacks.

I am guessing your partner would say the same.

What team am I boasting? My post contained statements about a single team, ISU. Iowa is on a downward slide, but that does nothing to change the fact that ISU is not improving. This is not some zero sum game where as Iowa declines ISU improves. The are unrelated which is why as Iowa has gotten worse the last few years so has ISU's place in the B12 standings.

But if you do want to compare, Iowa is on a rough three year stretch that has many Iowa fans calling for Kurt's head, the Hawks have won 19 games and went 1-1 in bowl games over this stretch. ISU fans are talking about all the momentum Rhodes is building in Ames, but during the same three years you've won 17 games, haven't had a single winning season and went 0-2 in bowl games. But congrats on the juggernaut he's building there.

Notice how he supplies no answers as to why ISU fans should be excited about the direction of the program. This would be like Iowa fans saying you should be excited about the direction of our program because Illinois is getting worse, but of course Iowa fans aren't dumb enough to make that argument.

Hillarious if only we played Western Illinois last year, maybe we'd be boasting about another team losing to a MAC program while we're owning the Gateway Conference. And by all means go back to boasting about how difficult ISU's schedule was last year. Not saying ours was was difficult but please, try to stop acting all high and mighty!!!

I'll confess I laughed and cried.

Hey Jon -

Any way to move a portion of this thread to the football board so those of us who are interested in discussing basketball don't have to worry about it? Don't get me wrong .. I'm a Hawkeye football fan as much as basketball, there's a reason for having separate football and basketball threads.

Thanx!!

GO HAWKS!!!
