The panel was making a late push for exactly that. Even Wannstedt, who has been a staunch Notre Dame supporter. He changed his tune at least once tonight, saying "Out of sight, out of mind."

On the flip side, it looks like God said, Hurst's time to get some justice -- so even if GA punts, he probably gets them in FG range.
 
Dirty secret: Jim Delaney doesn't care about a B1G team making the playoffs. When aOSU gets passed again, he won't say much of anything about it. He won't because the #1 goal of the B1G is to keep the network money rolling in. Actually, that's probably goals 1-6, and a couple of the goals in the teens. Why else would you play 9 conference football games and 20 conference basketball games when every other conference is trying to make it EASIER to get those wins for the playoffs/tournament?

Notre Dame didn't get skullfkd by Purdue.

Bama, Clemson, and ND are lead pipe, absolute locks. There is zero chance that ND won't be in.

If Delaney gave two craps about actual results, he'd give a presser tomorrow night when OSU misses out, and announce that the Pac 12 and B1G are done allowing their teams to get passed over for the playoffs of a southeastern US invitational controlled by schools lacking literacy and proper daily footwear and that they were pulling out of the committee playoffs. They're going back to their bowl arrangements, their champs meeting in the Rose Bowl, and the committee can pound sand. It would actually be interesting AND make a ton of money.

I greatly dislike both coaches whose teams competed for the B1G championship. But the fact neither is in the playoffs speaks volumes about the low quality of league play relative to the rest of the country.

It does seem like the former slave states have a monopoly on things. Easy to do when it's a 4-team "playoff."

Kind of like the first Ali-Frazier fight. Frazier won, but Ali got more public adulation for the way he withstood Frazier's punishment in the ring than Frazier got for winning.

Frazier thought he was dissed and never forgot. He was bitter and surly for the rest of his life when the subject of Ali was brought up. And fighting him two more times (and losing both) didn't help matters.

Logic? ND's best wins are against B1G teams that OSU also beat. I wasn't speaking from emotion. I hate OSU. I just didn't think ND was deserving since they refuse to join a conference. I don't even really understand why they are eligible.

ND didn’t get curbstomped by Purdue. OSU keeps that game remotely close they might have valid argument. I hate ND as much as the next guy, but getting blown out by a bad team is inexcusable and should should have them on the outside looking in.
