For anyone that attended...

How was the atmosphere? It did not seem very good on TV.

How was attendance? There were a ton of empty seats in the lower level.

Its nearly sold out, the problem is 1 ticket gets both games. As ive stated before, they need to sell a ticket to each game and lower the prices 40-50%

What is the capacity of that place? Smaller than Carver?

It looked like very poor attendance while watching on TV. Seems kind of pathetic with is being billed as a great location and idea of the two games there. I would expect better turn out and no empty seats.

These games are set up for 14,500. Like i said, the tickets are too expensive. $70 to watch UNI or Drake??? Sell a ticket to each game, drop the price to $35-$40 for the lower bowl. Better atmosphere, more concessions, greater impact on DSM and downtown.

How long is the contract for this thing? If attendance doesn't improve I have a feeling the AD's will quickly start to point out how much revenue is being lost from not hosting every other year.

Agree 100%

I mean the population is too large for the facility to not be 100% full. If they want all teams to give up a home court game they need to figure out a way to fill the arena.

I think at least the next 4 years. Each school will serve as the host of the event.

This is modeled after the Indianapolis tourney going on today as well. The problem is you will rarely, if ever get a marquee match up, Unless UNI goes undefeated in the non-conference. In Indy they get Notre Dame vs. Purdue and IU vs. Butler.

Agree, typical administrators with their heads up their aaarses, lets gouge Iowans, $70 for lower seats, give me a break, check out how the big ten teams are doing buying tickets to their football bowl games, nobody is buying, even whisky and nebby are struggling trying to find people to overspend.

I'm encouraging them to change this thing by not attending ... plus I sent a letter to Barta

the empty seats are fans who bought tickets to watch Drake and Iowa St. Many don't care to spend 6 hrs in the Well. I would guess many of the Iowa and UNI fans split after their game, leaving an empty seat as well.
