Welcome to the Dark Ages

Sad. Struggling at home against s junior college team. Undisciplined football. So many silly penalties. Signs of a team that is in for a long season. The Chicago Cub in me had higher hopes for the season. Our defense is bad.

The Chicago Cub in you should expect exactly this result, brah. :p

Our component stats (yards per carry, yards per attempt, ypc allowed, ypa allowed) have looked good both weeks. That is more meaningful in the long run that one really bad INT by Rudock both games. Rudock is playing efficiently right now, outside those mistakes, which are correctable.

There is no chance that I can convince the sh1tstorm of negativity in the fanbase, but we'll see. The fanbase was the same way in early 2008.

How can you put a rose on this game today.... we were playing a glorified JC team! If we played the way we played today against ..even Purdue, we would have been blown out. 500 yds against SW Missouri St = 125 against any team in the Big Ten

Iowa put up those amazing stats up against a MAC team (yes NIU isn't bad but still). And a ******* lifeless corpse of a MVC team, I wouldn't be bragging about all those glorious stats.

The game next week could be even uglier than last year's.

I knew the program was down, but had no idea we were at this point.

Unless something miraculous happens I don't see how we win a Big Ten game this season (I would have said in the foreseeable future, but I'm trying to stay positive).

I agree. Big Ten wins will be scarce with all those penalties. That definitely needs to improve fast.

Another cry baby thread of supposed fans...re-watch the game, it really was not as bad as you think if you are or can be objective...

So based on that analysis, Iowa would have to have gained 1500 yards today to equal 375 against a big10 team.

I'm not bragging. I'm realistic about the future. If stats in these games don't matter, why is everyone disappointed with the score? an 82-0 win would also be utterly meaningless.

Right, so what it we couldn't blow out a bad d-1aa team.

The sky is not falling. There are definitely signs of life, and most of th mistakes being made are by young players and are correctable. Each position (both O and D) has shown flashes of this being a pretty solid football team. They've just got to put everything together.

Literal Larry.....so you are impressed with 500 yds against a lousy team and only win by 14?

That margin was due to penalties, mistakes, dropped passes, and a missed field goal. Definitely concerns, but I would resist generalizing to the point of nausea. Serves no purpose. What I'm more concerned about is our running game against a good defense. We may not know that reality until Big Ten seasons starts.
