Weisman and KMM watch

Weisman has 26 career rushing touchdowns and now ranks third in program history, trailing only Shaw and Banks, who each had 33.

KMM now has 155 career catches ranking 4th all time. Trailing all-time leader DJK who had 173, McNutt who had 170, and Kasper with 157.

assuming iowa plays 6 more games, Weisman needs 7 TD'S total to tie, so he needs to average more than 1 TD per game to break the record.

KMM needs 18 to tie, so he needs to average more than 3 catches a game to get the all time receptions record.

KMM probably will make it unless he gets injured.

Weisman is not so certain even if he stays healthy.

It's almost criminal that Mark Weisman's name could be alongside or above the likes of Tavian Banks and Sedric Shaw in Iowa Hawkeye football history. Talent level is not even close.

What's criminal is how some just cannot appreciate different styles of running. I have nothing but respect for Weisman and wish him the best as he has done nothing but epitomize "the Hawkeye way" while keeping serving as a role model for kids and teammates alike.

Was John Riggins or Jerome Bettis as "talented" as Tony Dorsett or Walter Peyton? Not saying Weisman will be a hall of fame but simply pulled names that demonstrate very contrasting styles and I enjoyed watching all 4 of them.

Sorry, but if for argument's sake Tavian Banks and Sedric Shaw = Tony Dorsett and Walter Payton, Mark Weisman definitely does not = Jerome Bettis or John Riggins. Not even close.

Look, I appreciate what Mark Weisman was able to do filling in a couple of years ago when Iowa was desperate. It was an admirable job. But, I do not believe he has been the same runner over the last two years, and it's painfully obvious that he is not capable of being a "go-to" running back in the Big Ten. I believe Iowa needs to be primarily a running team to be successful, but I also believe the only time Weisman should be running the ball is in the 4th quarter, when defenses are worn down enough to the point when his complete lack of speed and quickness isn't such an issue.

Me saying Weisman's name alongside Banks and Shaw is criminal still stands. Those guys were simply amazing. On another level. Arguably the best two backs in Iowa history. Arguably.

Stats can often be a bit deceiving and may not tell the whole story as one could have an amazing back who endures a poor or injury riddled offensive line which would obviously impact their individual rushing totals but just for fun, here is how some of the Iowa backs stack up to a few the most recent statistical leaders in the Big Ten.

Nobody is confusing Weisman with Shaw or Banks. That does not mean Weisman does not deserve the TD record. In fact the records do a good job of capturing who Weisman is. A good short yardage back who has scored a lot of TD's. That's what he is good at and thats the record he is chasing. I hope he does get it.

Shaw will still have his record for all time yardage and Banks will still have the record for yards in a game. So i say good luck Mr. Weisman in chasing the TD record.

Suicide watch for under use?

The Weisman negativity is not correct. He has a faster 40 time than Mike Allstot 4.58 to 4.66 as we saw Saturday he also has more allusiveness than people give him credit for. He definitely needs more carries.

What will be sorta crazy is if he finishes with like 17 TD and maybe 700 yds rushing. That would be a weird stat line.

Weismann is not comparable to Greene, banks , shaws ability but he is probably the most consistent player we have had this year. Also the only guy that looks like he is playing with a chip on his shoulder this year. I think it would be really cool to see him break that record.

I think Miller/Deace mentioned this in the podcast this week: It is November and now is the time to take the "bubble wrap" off of Weisman and let him run the ball 25 times per game. Hopefully, they will do so and eliminate the 2 yard passes when the down marker is 7 years up field.

Agreed. Years past hes been so beat to **** at this point. Getting into cold weather, it's going to get old for defenses to keep slamming into Weisman. Feed him 25 carries per at least from here on out
