We were completely lied to this year....

You told yourself that having two new coordinators wouldn't cause any bumps.

Tell that to PSU. Tell that to OSU. Entirely new staffs.

Tell that to Wisconsin. Lost 5 coaches, 6 if you count the one fired 2 games in.

Anyone else want to name teams with new OC/DC? Duff, these weren't bumps, these were frick'n mini-mountains.

Look guys, don't blame me that you didn't use your big boy brains on this. Anyone paying attention could see this comming a mile away. We replaced a big number of starters. We replaced them with a combination of players that were remenants of the one of worst recruiting classes in the conference and first year players who are realistically a year or two from being ready. Throw in some key injuries (two of our best olineman and AIRBHG's quota) add in a new offensive system that we dont really have the personell to run and you get four an eight pretty quickly.

It ain't my fault that you overlooked all that because of some comments by coaches during spring ball.

Why do you think Ferentz doesn't let freshmen talk to the media? I will tell you - so they don't say stupid ****.

Maybe he should refrain his coaches from talking to the media too then, is that what you are saying?

...so many wanting to revolt against The Corporal and The Gerg....

FWIW I got a lulz out of this ^ line.

Aside from that the OP has it right - the difference between what was said by this program's staff and actually delivered goes way beyond coachspeak.

Guys, guys, guys....Don't worry so much. I saw Ferentz last night on his weekly TV show and he promised better things in the future.

Next year, the team will be loose. Er, lose. whatever.

Listen Herby. Central Michigan was younger than us. So was Penn State who was also hit with several transfers out. Get it Redhawk?

Maybe you're addressing the common masses but, again, you missed Spider's point. This is not about being 4-8, per se. I predicted going 6-1 through Penn St and struggling to get to 7 wins back in May. I saw it coming for all the reasons -- I'll even give you rationales -- you cited. Losses to CMU and ISU dropped that to a struggle to get 5 or 6 wins (simple math).

This isn't about unrealistic expectations or getting duped by the coach gloss. I've seen through that mirage since 2006. It's not about falling short of expectations created by over-inflated optimism of simply being a fan. Those are "you" problems that each fan needs to be accountable for. This is not about failing to achieve W's. It's about a complete failure of this coaching staff to even attempt to achieve by putting the players (admittedly an average talent pool of varying degrees) in the best positions to succeed by maximizing their (limited) skills and attributes and compensating for their weaknesses -- despite there being at least 5 winnable games (ISU, CMU, Indy, Purdue, and Nebraska) in which to do so. Not even as omniscient as you offer yourself to be did you see that level of ineptitude coming from the coaching staff** -- particularly, The Gerg.

** I will assume you, as I, foresaw that there would be numerous situational coaching gaffes throughout the season that would create an unnecessary challenge to the team's success, if not outright contribute to the loss. But then, that's like taking candy from a baby to anyone paying attention over the last 6 seasons, or so. To the point that it's foolish to not incorporate them into your expectations and predictions because they are such a reliable occurence.

However, you will never convince me you foresaw how schematically impotent The Gerg's system would be, let alone how dogmatically adherent to it they would remain despite it's obvious mismatch to personnel, let further alone, there being simple alternatives that would have produced greater opportunities for success.
(Once again, Spider's point -- square peg in a round hole -- when they all told us they would either use round pegs or make the hole square. They didn't promise us and we didn't expect guaranteed success. They DID promise us and we did, and always will, expect maximizing opportunities for success. They failed on all fronts and the "lie" was their failure to amend.)

This **** is funny. I don't think I've ever seen a fanbase get butthurt over what some coaches said during spring media day.

who saw the merry go round at the RB position,
who saw the injuries on the OL which had 3 1st season starters including a RSFR in Bythe
as for yoiuth just because some were Jr's and SR's does not mean they are experienced
IE; rssr's Gaglione, Bigach, Donatell were all 1st time starters with litte to no playing time
JR Lowery, CJ, Van Sloten were all 1st time starters,
that's 6 upperclassmen 0 starting experience and/or playing experience,
don't confuse age with experience
as for the others, RSSO's/SO Scherff, Donnal, KMM, Weisman and FR Garmon all saw time or started for the 1st time in their career on offense
the defense also had 1st time playing or starting SO Alston, Lowdermilk, Law, LTP and Davis played sparingly as a FR, as for the FR or RSFR Ott, Spears, Cooper, Perry, Fischer and Draper, all saw playing time in the 2 deeps
that's a very young team. the coaches had to work with and for fans to expect a good season out of

My low prediction was 5-7 thought I'd be ****** if they did worse, sadly apathy has stuck me because I don't care anymore. TGFBBS

The only lies were the ones you told yourself.

You told yourself loosing more starters than anyone in the B10 wasn't a big deal.

You told yourself being forced to play 2 TEs in a 5 WR set was a good thing because it plays to our strengths.

You told yourself that having two new coordinators wouldn't cause any bumps.

Sorry Duff. What you say won't play in Peoria. The OP is spot on.

Ok, so don't hold them accountable for what they say. Makes no sense and that wouldn't fly in any other profession.

FreedComanche

Don't hold them accountable for what they say?

That flies all the time for politicians, lawyers, and a whole lotta talking heads on the tv.

EVERYTHING proceeded as I foresaw.

I even foresaw your crazy spelling and run-on sentences.
