We really need a good year.

I have been away for awhile, after visiting some other cfb sites, I am convinced we need to go out this year and whoop some azz. I am so sick of the workouts and other drama. I just want to watch the Hawks roll their oppents, (some more than others). I would love to see us hold NW and ULN to 7 and run the score up on them.
I wish this more just to silence some of the mouths. To be honest I fear our game with NW more than ULN, the peleni brothers are good, but I dont think they have anything on Norm.

I think this year's offense has the potential to be explosive, if KF and KOK allow it to be.
I agree, I wonder about the D, but I have alot of faith in Norm and crew, I think we are starting to get over the rebuild stage and working towards reloading. A good D is something we have been able to say is fairly stable.

Who is this "ULN" and "peleni brothers" you speak of? If you are speaking of DoNU with Bo and Carl Pelini, then be on guard. While I have much respect for what KF has done, I am of the opinion that Bo Pelini is a better recruiter, coach, and talent developer than KF.

If DoNU's offense does tank and Iowa does hold us to 7 points, I wouldn't expect for your offense to put up over 17 on Pelini's defense. We'll have to see how the year plays out, but at this point, I would look for something like a 20-10 win for DoNU.

Nebraska will always bring in higher touted recruits than Iowa, no matter who the coach is. Better coach and developer of talent is very debatable. I dont think there are many schools in the country who do as much as KF with as little.

Better recruiter? No way. Even in your irrelevancy this past decade the Fuskers were pulling in more highly touted classes than Iowa, who was winning BCS bowl games and finishing in the top 10 multiple times. This would be the case with or without Pelini.

Better coach? Questionable. Ferentz blew some big ones last year. The jury is still out on that one.

Better developer of talent? Yeah, right. That is all.

Yep it should be a good game.
I lifted my sig from a poster somewhere else. I beleive what he is trying to say is "Welcome to the B1G, come right in but ahhh dont sit there, that's our seat. You see we've been in this battle with Wiskey and State and The Bucks, for many a year now, we have come to earn each others respect, and if you want to come sit at the table, fine, but to think you get to automaticlly sit at the head of the table is not only rude but will be dealt with in a swift and harsh magnitude, that only B1G teams are able to supply."

Yes, Bo's really set the world on fire over there. The N is for Nowledge.

There is no doubt that KF has done a good job with developing the talent he has, no question.

The talent (on paper) that DoNU has had recently has not been near the level of the Texa$$es, USCs, Floridas, tOSUs, and Alabamas.

Looking at some of the better players (All-American caliber) Pelini has developed while at DoNU-
Suh-a 4* recruit who was ok at best until Pelini coached him, most decorated defensive player in school history
Crick-a 2 or 3* recruit, 2nd team A-A
David-4* JUCO, undersized LB, 2nd team A-A
Prince A.-mid ranked 3* athlete, 1st team A-A
Haag-mid ranked 3*, Hon. Mention A-A
A. Dennard-high 3* recruit, likely A-A in 2011.

Both are good, very good. I would agree with you that it is debatable who better.

Crapahan was a horrible evaluator of talent and took the recruit who was highest rated by the "experts" such as Scout and Rivals regardless of whether they fit the system or not. Most of his 4* kids either washed out or under achieved. Solich wasn't a great recruiter, but he got kids to fit the system and coached them up, even though we were not rich in talent during his years.

There is a reason why it was our worst decade since the 50's. One coach who was a ho-hum recruiter, and one who couldn't coach to save is life.

Ferentz had done some good things, no doubt. He is on year what 10 or 11? Bo certainly has some learning and growing to do, but he is starting on year 4. Hopefully this is the year.

Better developer of talent? Yeah, right. That is all.
See the above post.

You list a bunch of 3 and 4 stars. How about taking a walk on and turning him into a NFL Hall of Fame TE? (Dallas Clark). This is a stupid argument in that there is no way to determine who is the better developer of talent - it's opinion. These are just the type arguments Husker fans love getting into. I'm not passionate (or psycho) enough to go look it up but my guess is Ferentz has finished higher with lower ranked recruiting classes than Pelini has. But lets just say they've both done commendable jobs and we finally get to answer this question Nov. 25. Go Hawks

We are going to have to earn our spot. I don't think that most DoNU fans think that we will come in and roll the B1G in year one. There is too much unknown. With that being said, I don't think that it is out of the question for DoNU to be in the race for the conference title. Do I think that we will win every game, no, but I think that we have a shot at winning every game on the schedule.

Whomever wins the B1G will have to earn it.

I tend to agree with everything you have said, it is opinion. You see things through gold colored glasses, while I wear scarlet colored glasses.

And, I'm not arguing, just having a football discussion. It's spring football, then it will be the offseason, not much to talk about. September can't get here soon enough.

I agree. Thats kinda what I was saying, it's so boring right now, you see people all jumping on Iowa for the workouts and Tressel for their problems, I just get tired of all that and want to watch football. I hope for the NW and Husker game to be the good ones, I am hoping the Hawks are in a position to play well in Lincoln and I hope the Huskers are in good shape for that game as well, cuz with NW playing spread type O and Wiskey not on our plate, it seems we need someone willing to play the smash mouth type game we will be missing and by the sounds of it Bo is going to move more towards that type of ball (old Husker football).

I like Nebby. I think we have a better season than most will forecast and play Nebby at their place for division crown......I think we win......

Pretty bold statement on the "better recruiter, coach, and talent developer" than KF. I know Washington was impressed.

Kirk Ferentz just needs to get over the hump, so close every year. Not sure if he ever will here at Iowa.
