That must be one hell of a concussion

THIS^^^

Anyone who feels otherwise should watch an interview with Bernie Kosar or Jim McMahon.
CTE is real. No doubt. I don't think it is any of our place to judge when guys play or not or for how long. The doctors should explain the risks and each person decides what is best for his and his family. I will say you don't see a lot of reported evidence of CTE from playing college and high school alone. I am sure it exists, but the reported really bad cases like Kosas, McMahon and others seems to be in the NFL veterans.

Every football player knows the risks of playing the sport. They have taken about as much head violence out of the sport as they can, but it will always be an inherent risk. If a young man wants to take that risk for glory, or money or whatever, and the risk is known, that is there choice, not mine. I don't ride motorcycles because my ER friends call them "donorcycles" but I am not about to tell someone else they can't ride.

I've seen Tua knocked out with his arms frozen twice now and he is still playing. Whether that is wise or not is between him and his family. Everyone recovers differently. From my armchair it seems like most guys miss a couple weeks in concussion protocol and then are released. Doesn't shock me that CM is sitting this week. I suspect he will be active again before the end of the year. That said, maybe he calls it a career.
My guess is that's how this will play out. Unless Sullivan gets hurt they've made the change and Cade isn't going to play again. It's hard to say if say he's fine and good to go the following week what he'll do. For depth reasons we'd be nuts to not want him to stay and I don't think he'll just up and quit. But maybe he would if he just doesn't want to get dinged again either. We can only guess at this point. Teammates all seem to love the guy I can't see them or the coaches encouraging him to quit.

I don't know about where you guys all live, but where I'm at before the season all athletes (not just football players) have to take baseline cognitive tests and pass before being allowed to participate.

Those baselines are used after concussions to be able to re-enter practice and competitions. For example, HS athletes take the cognitive testing to establish their baseline, and after a concussion they have to get back to their baseline scores before they're allowed to return. Could be x amount of days or it could be never.

I'm 100% sure at the D1 level it's even more extensive than that and involves getting examined in person by a neurologist.

As I posted a week ago in another thread, the conversation could have been, "Cade, we were going to play Sully anyway, but you just took a hell of a hit. Let's get you checked out by the Doc, but you are done for the day."
Yep. Or it might have been CM pissed off about the goofy picks and cussing himself out, and KF trying to bring him back down to earth. I know myself as a HS coach I had more of that than anything else.

CJF is often forgotten about.. He'd just signed an extension after his rookie contract was up. Dude was coming into his own and bam... I haven't heard much about CJ for awhile now either hope he's doing alright.
Dallas Clark and Marv Cook will always be the godfathers of TE U.

Iowa's TE production all time is absolutely out of this world. No team like it.

Scott Chandler
Dallas Clark
Marv Cook
Noah Fant
CJ Fiedorowicz
Jim Gibbons
Jonathon Hayes
TJ Hockenson
George Kittle
Sam LaPorta
Tony Moeaki
Brandon Myers

Lachey will probably get picked up to play Sundays somewhere and Ortwerth looks like he's gonna be the next early rounder.

Wild.

Absolutely the case in Omaha. My son played varsity soccer and two of the starters on his team did not finish the season due to concussions.

Just about any competitive contact sport has the risk of concussions, but with sports like soccer and football, head contact is built into the game itself. The issue of concussions is taken very seriously now at all levels of sport, and that is a good thing.

With Lachey it will be based on measurables and reputation, and maybe last year's tape, but damn they are not getting the kid the ball this year.

Was it a FB injury or did he wipe out on his moped?
