We need shooters.

Because we watch sports and understand announcers suck off whatever building they are in. Do you live in a bubble, announcers always suggest that the home team's traditions are amazing.

Hilton is one of the loudest venues in the country. Get over yourself!

ISU plays way better at Hilton, and that constitutes magic to me. Just ask Kansas how much different ISU is at Hilton....not a joke or figment of Hlas's imagination...stats bear it out.

I was surprised to see Uthoff miss those open jumpers in the second half. He has been money....good shots.
Same with Mikey early in the second half...he had some wide open looks and could not get them down.

Iowa has Uthoff, Gesell,McCabe, Jok and Clemmons all hitting around 40% from the arc...that is decent. Problem is that Dev is at 30% and he is taking far more than anyone else. He is 17 of 56 from the arc, and that is not good enough. At 40% he would have made 6 more shots from the arc...18 key points that keeps us undefeated.

Josh Oglesby will rebound and shoot it well this year, with more guys hitting around him....just watch. We need him back.

Ok, you're right. Gessell probably just missed those because he was a massive choker. I hadn't considered that was the preferable alternative for some fans.

Or maybe he just missed shots, it happens. It doesn't mean anything more than that. This false choice between him being mentally weak, or magic is asinine.

I said the crowd was dead yesterday. However, they stepped up at the end. Reid Gettys said it was the loudest he's ever heard an arena. The guy who called the mich/isu game said it was louder than any arena in the ACC. Why is this difficult to admit for some people?

It's definitely a pain point. It hurts Hawk fans that ISU has something with more tradition and national legitimacy. We think we're the only ones with "tradition" in this rivalry. Hilton is loud. Everyone knows it. Care or don't care, but don't pretend like it's something it's not.

Iowa is used to hostile territory. The Kohl center, and Assembly hall are both more hostile conditions that Hilton. Don't get me wrong, Hilton is a great home court atmosphere for ISU, but it isn't a top 10 venue like Phog, Khol, Assembly, Cameron, etc.

Kohl Center and Assembly Hall are rarely as loud as Hilton was last night for an Iowa game. Those other venues get loud for big games, dont get me wrong, but not at last nights levels when the Hawks are in the house.

I am interested to see how loud the Kohl Center gets this year with Uthoff coming back. I cant wait to go to that game.

Maybe they don't get as loud??? I have nothing to compare it to, as I have never been to those places, but have been to Hilton several times. I'm not gonna go around and say it is louder, cause one announcer said it was???

Either way, those home court advantages are much better than Hiltons, and that is simply a fact that has been proven out over the last 5, 10, 15, 20 years.

Maybe I'm insane, but last night was a fantastic game, regardless of whether you were Hawk fan or a Cyclone fan. Not the ending that I hoped for, but a game that any fan of the sport would have enjoyed had they stumbled upon it. It was a highly anticipated game that easily could have gone either way.

It was good but not great, great games end with one team doing what is needed to win. Last night's game was about one team doing what it needed to lose. Iowa missed 5 straight FTs in the last minute and a half, and missed a wide open three, ISU didn't earn a stop.

I can't believe I'm saying this but ISU did what they needed to do to win. It wasn't like other games where we committed stupid turnovers to lose, we simply missed some huge free throws. I may never forgive myself for this, but ISU fought like hell to pull that one out and snuck away with one. They did as much if not more to win the game then we did to lose it.

By not playing defense? That was a dream final attempt by McCabe, and they also fouled a shooter that had been playing well and shooting well from the line. Iowa lost yesterday more than ISU won- at least down the stretch.

Agree to disagree, but whatever, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. All was saying is that ISU could have easily thrown in the towel, but they kept fighting. It was a game I thought we should have won, but in the end someone had to take advantage of another's missed opportunity.

I'm not the one acting giddy about an announcer saying nice things about the hometown crowd. That's what everyone does. Take Jon Rothstein, if you follow him on twitter, he calls about 150 teams tournament contenders.

Every announcer talks up Hilton in Hilton, just like they talk up Kinnick when they are doing a game in Kinnick. Don't get your jolly's all twisted.
