We have trouble with faster teams-we looked so slow today.....

It wasnt even funny. We had guys on defense on the edge who were froze like deers in a headlight. We had little answer for Cobb breaking to the outside and the Jet Sweep.

Marylands speed, Minny looked much faster than us, even ISU in the end of the first half and most of second half were faster than us.

Now this does not bode well for playing wisky and nebby, I am not sure how fast Illinois is (I hope not fast).

Recruiting needs to find some more speed.

But what do we do for now, well are edge defenders need to get a step into the offensive backfield at least to maybe turn that runner in toward more tacklers. but whatever dont let them outside.

And should KF make speed a major factor in recruiting???

I think he already did. Our sideline is full of speed.

I started watching the ASU v Notre Dame game immediately after ours. The difference in speed between the two games blows my mind. It's like watching a pro game then a high school game back to back. Weisman and the LBs for Iowa are probably the slowest starters at their position in D1 football.

I dont know many of the new recruits, redshirts, redshirt freshman, but who on the sideline do we have with some speed.

Man our defense at linebacker and safeties looked slow and I didnt realize Cobb was that fast and shifty.

I hate to say this but outside of Nieman who should be seeing some PT now in place of Bower we have nothing else at LB.

Our DE's are pretty bad also outside of Ott.

I was mostly talking about skill position on offense. Our linebacker recruiting has been bad for a few years and we could recruit the biggest studs ever at safety and still somehow start the good story walkon.

Yep. There is no way anyone could make the argument that we're not playing the best players at those positions because we don't have anyone else.

I see what you say. We do have some speed at receiver and I have heard we have some fast young receivers.

We also have a former fast receiver in Willies who is gone.

Willies could not even get onto the field. How about Powell sightings and targets the last 2 weeks? Back to playing the KF guys. How about Mitchell or Harris? I suppose they cannot figure out the playbook either.

Please give info about Mitchell and Harris, I dont follow recruiting too much or know some of the younger players.

... and the sad thing is that is the first time I have ever heard somebody describe Minnesota as "fast".

We brought in 4 WR's per Davis to upgrade the speed and talent. We have lost 2 of those 4 already and I suspect Mitchell and Harris will be exiting stage left at the end of the year. None qualify as candidates for a good story. Too much play making ability.

Pat Angerer tweeted that he loved playing Minnesota. Only team with more white kids who were slower and dumber than him. Or something like that.

Powell is a work in progress. Kirk hopes to have him up to speed for the bowl game.

I have given up waiting to see Powell. After another in a string of big plays from Pitt to Indiana he essentially was rubbed out of the line up since. That was a KF middle finger to the fan base who was pleading to get him on the field.

Add up the number of big plays and TD's he made in a short tint now compare that to our supposed number 1 WR KMM. Enough said.

SE=koralakers;1356484]We don't play speed or better players. Everyone knows we simply play upper-classman. End of story.[/QUOTE]

I think it's more that we play experience over inexperience. If there is a competition for a spot, an underclassmen can win. He just has to be considerably better than the upperclassman. Also once a spot is won, it takes a player that is way better to take it from him.

This flaw in talent evaluation really hampers our team when there is a player that is better sitting behind a starter just because it's not night and day obvious (even though sometimes it is).

You're just realizing we are slow? Been that way for a decade.
