We Can make this message board great

It is a new season. The Hawkeye football team has made big changes in an effort to get better. The prospects for the Iowa basketball team have never been better and Fran is striving to make us an NCAA tournament team. It is really is exciting right now to be an Iowa fan.

It is time to make this message board the best board in the country. Only the people who post can make it so. Here are some suggestions (I'm also going to try to improve and follow these rules):

1. Do not criticize players. They are young men. They are doing their best. Coaches? Sure. Players? No.
2. Do not insult other people who post. Keep the personal stuff off the board. If a person posts, some thought and effort probably went into it. Be respectful. I have violated this rule many times. I'm going to quit calling people "morons" and "dopes". I'm a moron when I do those things. It ends today.
3. This board is supposed to be a place to gain information about Iowa sports teams, past and present. If you don't have something intelligent to say or to add to a discussion, don't say it. You are not required to post. It is not a contest.
4. Cut out the sophomoric jokes, Cyclone baiting (I'm a big offender), and attempts to appear intelligent or clever. Do not post threads that are meant to trap people by saying something you don't really mean in all sincerity. It really doesn't add anything to the board.
5. Try to be positive and constructive in your posts. There is enough negativity and defeatism in the world. Don't add to it.

I'm going to do a better job. It is time to improve. Go Hawks. Beat NIU!!!

1) I won't criticize players if they don't "earn" it. As to coaches, KOK and Kaz are gone. KF is an open book. Nobody left, so it falls back on the players. And the fans, of course.

2) How can I come here and not entertain myself with my constant witticism and slams?

3) I know everything there is to know about Iowa sports. I don't come here to get info, I come here to check the accuracy of the info posted by others.

4) I stopped with the sophomoric jokes...when I was a sophomore. As to ISU? How to avoid THAT?!

Why is it that everyone hates that the football coach has no personality, but then complain when people try to put a little personality into the message board experience? I swear, if some of these butt hurt dwellers had their way, discussing Hawkeye sports would be as exciting as sitting in one of Kurt and KOK's coaches meetings.

I don't disagree. I (for one) really do try to contain my nonsense to the OT board. I will admit to jumping in when someone else posts something goofy in a "serious" thread, though. I will try to stop doing that.

I agree, fantasy football draft season requires a certain level of seriousness at my office. It's the only time of year I use my privacy screen.
