We are shooting lights out from behind the line

That may be true but I think the optimism lies in the hope that on any given night Iowa could have someone step up and take over a game. So far this season Iowa has had 5 different people lead the team in scoring. While Iowa may not have that 'one' individual to carry the team night in and night out, the hopes are that somebody will step up and take over the game. I don't think anyone doubts the fact that there will be nights where that might not happen, we are just hoping those nights are few and far between.

Why does this sound familiar? Oh that's right the "Go to guy" thread a few weeks ago where I predicted this could be the case. I also thought May would have a break out year so that shows what I know huh? The season is still young and maybe a go to guy will develop and May will start to come around. Wouldn't mind seeing both situations develop.

I was hoping May would play better by now considering it seems like at the beginning and end of the season Fran is saying Eric May has been slowed by injury and this year he was supposed to be healthy. I don't want to get down on the guy but when he is on the floor I just shake my head, same with McCabe. Either guy seems to be playing that well. Hopefully, as the season goes on they get comfortable but with May being in his 4th year and McCabe in his 3rd year, not show how much growth they still have in them. Both great program guys, seem like good leaders just lack the top notch talent/skill.

i was hoping for the same thing when I heard he was finally healthy again. It's still possible that he could come around but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

you know that is getting pretty old.. "well just wait till BT play" Iowa with less talent swept both Wisconsin and Minn. and ended up 8-10 in BT play

Convenient that you choose to forget losses to the likes of Nebraske et al.

Wait til BT play is extrememly valid especially with the contrast between the non-con and B10 schedule.

My understanding of basketball doesn't equate leading Iowa in scoring on a given night as taking over a game. Would also mean more if they actually play real teams.

I don't believe anyone said that. My point was that the team had several players who are capable of taking over the game. Hard telling though since i guess we've only played fictional teams so far...
