We are shooting lights out from behind the line



yeah but they went 32 of 63 from 2 and 17-19 from the line, which is where you need good shooting,
it doesn't matter who you play when shooting 3's, either you make them or you don't..
what's important is to know when to get away from the outside and pound it inside.
 


Pretty much my worst fears realized. 3 point shooting awful, defense suspect against shooters (again) and our fast breaks are clinics in how not to run breaks. Can't go 2-16 and expect to win beat anyone decent. South Dakota hit some tough 3's, especially the Kasperbauer kid, but no excuse for Oglesby and McCabe bricking wide open looks. Best shot against ISU is to play our core guys more and shorten the bench. Like to see Clemmons drive more and Gesell continue to take those mid range jumpers.
 


17-19 from the line? I'll take that, but if the 3's don't start falling, we're in trouble in the BIG.

maybe, but holding a team to 19-55 for 34.5 % from the field is not bad defense and that will win more games with that type of "D"
10 OF 33 from 2 and 9-22 from 3 not many teams are going to shoot from 3 that often like that.

you know that is getting pretty old.. "well just wait till BT play" Iowa with less talent swept both Wisconsin and Minn. and ended up 8-10 in BT play

Maybe the team is deeper with talent, but there's no one individual right now who's demonstrated the ability to carry the team when needed.

Gatens averaged 19 ppg in those four games, and he averaged just under 19 ppg in conference play. Iowa doesn't have that kind of player right now, and that makes our issues more concerning. There isn't a guy who can mask others' mistakes.

That may be true but I think the optimism lies in the hope that on any given night Iowa could have someone step up and take over a game. So far this season Iowa has had 5 different people lead the team in scoring. While Iowa may not have that 'one' individual to carry the team night in and night out, the hopes are that somebody will step up and take over the game. I don't think anyone doubts the fact that there will be nights where that might not happen, we are just hoping those nights are few and far between.
