Iowa Preview:
One of the most anticipated wrestle offs at Iowa will come at this weight class. Iowa is has two wrestlers coming off their red shirt freshman year that could be an All-American. Thomas Gilman was 23-5 last year winning the Grand View and Roger Denker Open titles. Where a lot of Iowa fans got excited about Gilman was his off season results. Gilman won FILA Junior World Team Trials at 55KG and placed eighth at FILA Junior World Championships at 55KG. With these results Iowa fans started questioning whether Cory Clark would be able to beat Gilman. Clark is a 4-time state champion from Iowa and to be is the favorite to be the starting 125lb wrestler. Clark has the Iowa style of creating motion and taking shots to wear people down. People seem to forget that Clark has a win over returning National Champ Jesse Delgado. Clark beat Delgado last year in the finals of the UNI Open by a score of 6-1. Look for an exciting wrestle off but ultimately Clark will be our guy and compete for a spot towards the top of the awards stand.

2. Ryan Mango Sr Stanford
3. Jimmy Gulibon Fr Penn State
4. Cody Brewer So Oklahoma
5. AJ Schopp Jr Edinboro
6. Jon Morrison Sr Oklahoma State
7. Joe Colon SR Northern Iowa
8. Chris Dardanes Jr Minnesota
Iowa Preview:
Tony Ramos will be on a mission this year and this time he won’t have Mr. Stieber as a distraction. I still think Ramos had him stuck but that is in the past and we can’t dwell on it and Tony won’t either. Ramos is the most dedicated wrestler on the team and will be the leader of this team. I look for him to put up big points once again for conference duals and for tournament time. It is early but I see Ramos as the clear favorite at 133.

7. Jason Tsirtsis Fr Northwestern
8. Nick Dardanes Jr Minnesota
Iowa Preview:
Josh Dziewa is who I think will be our 141lber. Josh was 15-4 last season but only saw one varsity dual which he won but time will tell if he can wrestle with the big dogs. I have him getting to R12 but at this time I just can’t put him on the awards stand.

5. Scott Sakaguchi Sr Oregon State
6. Andrew Alton Jr Penn State
7. Eric Grajales Sr Michigan
8. Zach Neibert Sr Virginia Tech
Iowa Preview:
149 once again will be a gaping hole for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Michael Kelly and Brody Grothus will fight for this spot. Kelly went 10-8 at 149 pounds and was 0-3 in Big Ten duals. Not Good! On the other end we have Brody Grothus who went 0-5 in Big Ten duals. Not good! Who is the better of the two for Division I wrestling? I think Grothus personally will fight harder to make a name for him self and set his name in stone as the starting 149 pounds. Look for Brands and Co to move Grothus and Kelly in the lineup regardless of what happens at wrestle offs.

6. Ian Miller So Kent State
7. RJ Pena Sr Oregon State
8. Kyle Bradley Sr Missouri
Iowa Preview:
DSJ will be the favorite going into the season and should hold true going into NCAA’s. This is DSJ’s last year and he has become a smarter and more efficient wrestler during his time at Iowa. DSJ received the Mike Howard Most Valuable Wrestler last year for a reason and will a great leader for this team. Dieringer and Green are the only wrestlers that I see giving DSJ fits this year. DSJ is a grinder out on the mat and he has proven that each year at the NCAA’s. The 3X All-American will have a great season at 157.

3. Taylor Massa So Michigan
4. Mike Moreno Jr Iowa State
5. Nick Moore Jr Iowa
6. Nick Sulzer Sr Virginia
7. Isaac Jordan Fr Wisconsin
8. Steven Monk Sr North Dakota St
Iowa Preview:
OK so Mr. Moore had great Big Ten tournament last year receiving his first automatic bid to the NCAA tournament so the expectation for Nick has to be higher this year. Nick has continued to get better and better each year and he was awarded last year with the most improved wrestler on the team. Let’s hope he keeps improving because we will need some big points at this weight with two heavy hitters at the top. Don’t see anyone else but Taylor winning the 165 and if you think otherwise your just plain ignorant. I don’t think 5[SUP]th[/SUP] place is a reach for Nick Moore but he will have to wrestle his best to make it this high on the podium.

3. Logan Storley Jr Minnesota
4. Matt Brown Jr Penn State
5. Mike Evans Jr IOWA
6. Robert Kokesh Jr Nebraska
7. Tanner Weatherman So Iowa State
8. Dan Yates Sr Michigan
Iowa Preview:
Mike ‘FeartheStache’ Evans is a returning All-American who will have a chip on his shoulder. For a 174 pound wrestler Mike Evans scores a lot of points leading the team with 10 major decisions. He is a beast at Carver and Iowa fans love him for it. Mike is at a stacked weight class with Howe and Perry being the front runners and the rest Mike could easily beat. These guys are all fairly matched in my eyes and it will all come down to who peaks at the right time come March.

Iowa Preview:
Believe it or not Lofthouse is a 2-time returning All-American for the Hawkeyes. Lots of people didn't see him placing fifth at the beginning of last year but he really turned it on later in the season. Lofthouse placed third at the Big Ten tournament and used that momentum into the NCAA championships. I think Lofthouse will build even more on this energy and have him wrestling for 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] and 4[SUP]th[/SUP] place. Lofthouse will be a 3-time All-American.

5. Scott Schiller Jr Minnesota
6. Nate Burak So IOWA

8. Christian Boley Sr Maryland
Iowa Preview:
Nathan Burak at 197 last year had his ups and downs but we could always count on him to be on the mat and do his best. Best won’t cut it at this weight though as anyone can win it. Burak had an overall record of 20-17 but people need to remember he was a freshman. Look for Burak to keep improving and hopefully find a confident shot.

Iowa Preview:
After a disappointing end to Bobby Telford’s season last year I look for him to come out swinging. I see Telford as an emotional wrestler this year and hope he gets in peoples faces more often. Telford carries a 49-15 record into this year and I look for him to improve this year with less than 5 losses. Telford is fully healed so do not worry about having a heavy weight.
