I think people are being a little hard on Connor McCaffery. He played very well in NY, and showed what he was capable of doing. The most important thing is that he really was playing his first year in the B10. Getting sick like that and not being able to do anything is a huge thing at his age. You fall behind everyone around you who is working every day to get better. Unless you are freak or a 5* player...that's something that has to be overcome.
He's going to get better...more physical, and be a better playmaker. He has the skills to limit turnovers, and he can shoot free throws, so those things warrant end of game scenarios when we are protecting the lead.
I think he has a role. He can be a physical guard, who won't blow by too many people, but he will back down smaller guards, and work his way to the basket and get fouled...like he did alot this year. You can also post him...as he's physical. Remember, players work on deficiencies every year...I'm sure he's going to work on the three ball to get greater consistency. I think he accomplishes that.
Honestly, if he were to have a huge baseball season...there is also a possibility that he gives up the basketball thing if he becomes a major league prospect.
