Watching National Championship games..

We can all agree, it’s a thrill to watch these games. It’s a thrill and blast to watch two great teams go at it. Big, Physical, Fast, Exciting teams.

However, am I the only one who has a hard time enjoying these games sometimes because of how far.. really about 4 galaxies away Iowa is from ever playing in a game like this? The speed of the teams, the strength and power, the excellent game planning and schemes.. I mean, we’re not even remotely close to matching up to any of these teams in any of those aspects.

It’s frustrating that we’ve become content to “accept the fact” that Iowa will never be able to contend for a Championship.

Or am I just a Debbie downing cry baby?

02, 08 (if Stanzi was starter going into the season) 09, and 10 were all teams that could have competed with the National Champions. We haven't had a team even near talented enough since then.

With the exception of Ohio State, and possibly Michigan or Penn State, no team east of California and north of the Mason-Dixie line is ever going to have a real shot at the national championship. The big time athletes by and large come from down south and stay down south for college. It's just the way it is. It's not an Iowa problem. It's a geography problem.

There's really only about 5 teams a year that could compete with Alabama on this stage anyway. The good news is, Saban won't be around forever.

Are we all Bulldog fans tonight? Personally don’t like either program but Saban’s a whiny little bitch and I’d be very happy to see Bama lose. Hate the way ESPN allowed him on the air the night before the selection to make his case for his team.

Go Dawgs!

Yes definitely pulling for Georgia, not sure if I will watch the whole game but it is pretty good so far.

As far as the OP, speed kills. Hawk players are big and strong but we lack team speed. We all know momentum is mass time velocity (speed) so even quickness/accelerating to higher speed shows up in the line play moving people back, in backs and lbkrs, etc. And speed turns into big plays.

I would say the big mismatch for Iowa is usually in the speed department. We have big, strong, and powerful but lets look at the last few bad bowl losses. Florida last year faster, Stanford faster and their lines got off the ball faster and continually reset the LOS to their advantage and McCaffrey blew right by us, Tenn and LSU faster. It is a constant problem against OSU usually.

Do we try to recruit speed first , I dont know. Speed can erase a lot of mistakes.

These two teams look like minor league NFL teams...and for the most part they're exactly that

Id say Iowa's offensive line is usually on par with these teams. Thats about it though.

Stanley has a better arm than Hurts, maybe as good of an arm as Fromm. Both those guys are 800% more mobile than Stanley though and that makes all the difference...along with way better playmakers

I like watching physical, speedy teams. Great playmakers.....oh yeah, Josie Jewell also.....

Great play calling, off script by the Georgia OC, being aggressive but I bet Wadley would have liked to get some 3rd down draw play calls like that each game.

Nope, your dead on. Kirk wouldn’t know what to do with a quarterback like Georgia has. He would still run the same offense.

Wouldn't it be nice to see play like that in Kinnick? These kids tonight are jacked, and are mostly disciplined, and just plain bring it.

Nah, you're right. It's unfortunate, but true. However, the same goes for all but about 5-6 teams a year (and of those, 2-3 are the same every year). Think about Wisky, who I think is pretty much universally accepted as a realistic bar we would like to achieve....while better than Iowa, still not at the level of OSU....who is not at the level of CFP teams.

There is tons of parity from about 8-20, even more parity in 20-40. But there seems to be a pretty gap between the top 5-6 And everyone else

The only QB that Iowa has had that compared to these QBs is Brad Banks.

Guys, watch the coach's feed. At first it was hard to follow and now I'm really into it. Just awesome.

Is this dood’s album available on wax or 8-track? I could see myself listening to it during my next root canal.

This guy sucks. No tone, no variation. I lived in Georgia for the last 18 years and enjoy a lot of the pop music and I have heard rap like this many times but I have no idea why the kids like this guy. My wife is sitting next me and she says all three songs song like the same thing.
