I was not a huge believer in Belien when he first got to Michigan, but I think he is close to being, if not, the best coach in the BIG at this point.
When he first got to Michigan, the program was a mess, was it as much of a mess as Iowa when Fran got there no, but he had major issues with his "star" players buying into the program and UM suffered for it.
Where I think JB has elevated himself, is with his staff, that supporting cast of coaches he has are very good and are excellent recruiters. I have said since Fran came to Iowa, I wished he would have kept LaVall Jordan, that guy is one of the best talent evaluaters out there. While at Iowa he was trying to get Burke/McGary before us fans knew who the heck they were and he was the key guy to get Cody Zeller to even visit.
Look at what Michigan lost, what they added and there is an imbalance of talent. Stauskas and LaVert have made a difference, but Horford/Morgan are vets the staff has coached up. Walton/Irvin are not as good as Burke/Hardaway, but UM plays as a team and yeah, they still have some talent, but the staff is very good at developing talent.
