Watch out for the Gophers

Good point Doc, Fran has to be the little voice in their ears, plus the players felt it worse last year than Fran, so they remember, and the way they're playing, hopefully they'll be ok and keep playing to win instead of trying not to lose...

I agree with GlidingHawk. I saw the Gophers play a decent Western Carolina team in Dec. and they had a
really good pressing defense that forced a lot of turnovers. That press kind of disappeared when conference
play started, but their last two games their press is clicking again.
The Big Ten is too good of a conference to take any opponent lightly. The Hawks will need a good effort to
beat MN.

Their last 2 games have been at home against Nebraska and Purdue. That's why they appear to be "clicking" IMO. I'm not worried about Minnesota.

How bout Hawks win third game in row with someone stepping up (unknown at this time), Woody keeps hands up above his head all game, Whitey has multiple dunks, oh and trolls go and spew their negativity on some other board!

Yes, I understand your response. Far from a troll, have been an Iowa fan for longer than you probably have been alive. That does not mean you turn a blind eye to what goes on. Quite frankly, everything I mentioned has basically happened, maybe not in one day.

Relax, you better pace yourself, as soon as you think Barta's Hero's have figured it out, they look like Colonel Klink. I might be wrong, it might be another 15 point loss to Minnie where they get intimidated and give up. I sure hope not.

Regardless, Woody and Fran have created more funny pokes and jabs that I can remember lately, so to speak.

Ohhhh....

I'm worried about when/if Iowa gets its "bad loss". You know it's coming somewhere. NW? Rutgers?

I hope not, but odds are everyone is gonna have at least one.

With the schedule we have left, we are going to either have bad losses or end up about a 5 seed in the tourney. Does snyone know who besides indiana wouldn't be considered a bad loss?

I agree. Some would argue a loss to Minnesota tomorrow night would be a 'bad loss.' I'm not sure, I guess it depends how Minnesota finishes.

Yeah, I get it. You think you're funny. OK. But this is a basketball board. Do you find it necessary to throw in a jab at Ferentz in a string concerning the Gophers basketball game?

I've been a Hawkeye fan for 50 years. How about you?

I guess a fan since Ralph Miller days. I respect your 50 years of being a fan. Yes, this is a basketball board, and there are some things that could be called funny in the athletic program. Lets just play this out for a few weeks and see what happens. Hope you have a nice evening.

Indiana is the only loss I expect going into the game. Any other loss is not a good loss. But I don't think losing to either Penn State or Nebraska is all that "bad" of a loss. But we can't be worse than 6-2 IMO. But you are right we really should go 7-1 and nail down a pretty good NCAA seed.

How do they decide bad losses on selection sunday? Is it anything over RPI 100? Or is it just a personal opinion? I always assumed there was a stipulation on it but I've never known what it was.

I won't venture to guess what the NCAA considers when making their decisions. But Indiana is top 50, Penn State top 100 and Nebraska just outside of the top 100.
