Washpun Commits to Tennessee

I'll grab some popcorn and wait for upcoming implosion....

You mean wait for the upcoming hilarious 180 from most posters, let me help them out quick,

"He wasn't good enough anyway"

"Fran knows what he is doing, it just means he didn't go after him hard because he has a better player lined up"

"This guy wouldn't have even seen the court for the Hawks"

and so on and so forth.

It is pretty clear after Cully left he is a guy Fran wanted and needed.

Washpun was a player who became necessity due to Payne's leaving..not a necessity to save the day, but to be a true point guard on the roster next year, so Marble didnt have to play any point minutes.

If Iowa lands another of their PG targets in the next few weeks, this 'miss' will be mitigated because Washpun was a project on the offensive side of the ball as it relates to anything doing with shooting the ball.

Well that's not what Fran wanted to have happen. This puts more pressure on Fran and company to get one of the Carter/Jackson/Stokes trio along with a JUCO guard and big man.

I actually think you may have dodged a bullet here. I was not impressed with the young man's shooting stats.

Based on a tweet or two from Jackson today I'd say his decision is made and Iowa is out.

He has a long, long way to go as a shooter. However, with Cully leaving, the team needs another true PG for reserve minutes next year. I also believe the staff felt he was not the caliber of player that would hurt their future efforts recruiting point guards.

I think he was a cut above being an outright project, due to his quickness with the ball and how he could push it. But his shooting, be it from distance or the line, is a long way off.

This really puts the pressure on the staff to find and sign a pg for next year, imo. Fran may also reevaluate his staff, recruiting wise, after this years recruiting is done.

I think that is a bit of an overreaction. These guys have been in Iowa City for one year and 12 days. This next recruiting class, the 2011-2012, will be filled with guys they have had a chance to have proper relationship development time with. I think they have shown a solid ability to recognize talent with what we have seen from Basabe and Cartwright, and Aaron White seems like he might turn out to be a steal.

Damn the fat chick dont want to go to the prom with me neither. Well at least I have a shot at Cindy the cheerleader if her boy friend doesn't get his cast off in time.

There's still some PGs with "good personalities" out there. You'll either go to prom with one of them or take your sister, who is Roy Marble in this analogy.

Seems like a big "IF" to me Jon. losing out on fall back recruits is not a good thing. I think Fran will get it done eventually but I'm really skeptical about this staff's recruiting right now. Starting to get bummed about it.
