Warning to Fran, Staff and Players!

Because wins against MSU, OSU, Wisconsin, Michigan and Indiana are guaranteed. Beating up on Penn State, Nebraska and Northwestern isn't going to do the trick. We've already tried that.

Yeah we tried last year with a completely different schedule and with a victory over ISU. Iowa's computer numbers are way ahead of where they were last year going into conference play and Iowa's conference schedule is much harder than last years.

I dont think it will happen but if the scenario you said above were to play out, it will most certainly do the trick this year, even with a loss in Ames tonight.

Is it that hard?

I wish ISU nothing but losses and bad news. I want them to lose every game and become embroiled in a myriad of scandals. I don't care if it hurts our strength of schedule in any sport, I will never and can never wish for them to win a game in any sport. **** them.

If we don't rack up some wins against the top teams in conference play, the tougher schedule may not be enough to help. We played the B1G's top-half teams 8 times last year, including the BTT. This year's schedule has 9 games against the other teams expected to finish in the top half (MSU, OSU, Wisconsin, Indiana and Michigan). If we went 1-8 against them (like we went 1-7 last year) against those teams, then we'd be looking at an 11-7 conference record (assuming we were to beat Minnesota and Illinois on the road, in venues that haven't exactly been the kindest for us). We could easily go 9-9 in conference play this year, with the same dearth of good wins as last year.

There's also the chance than injuries will hamper us at some point, which would make the above scenario even more plausible.

The bottom line is that any chance to get a good win like this is a must-win.

Iowa is probably 80 spots in the RPI ahead of where they were last year.

There's also the chance than injuries will hamper us at some point, which would make the above scenario even more plausible. Well there is also a chance Iowa wins the B1G title so if that happens, tonights game is even less of a must win. Did I do that right?

The bottom line is that any chance to get a good win like this is a must-win. A non-conference game in December will never be considered a must win. Ever.

I have been on this or the other board for 5-7 years and still dont really know what a Troll is. Can anyone explain it. ? What does Jon consider a Troll ?

While I respect your position, if Iowa was in Alabama's position a couple of years ago and needed Iowa State to beat Oklahoma State to allow Iowa a shot at the national title, you would cheer for Oklahoma State?

Seems that would be no different than ISU fan wanting to lose to OSU so Iowa would not have a shot at that title? And the sad thing is there would be those people too.

I am not sure ISU fans would even root for ISU to win in that scenario.

Iowa's non-conference schedule looks solid right now in the RPI, but RPI is pretty worthless this early in the season for a reason. Notre Dame and Xavier (our two best wins this year) have looked like crap since we beat them. Drake just lost their second leading scorer for the season, and their RPI was never going to stay around 30 anyway. By the end of the year, the three wins that are currently our best might not do much to help us at all. We don't get credit for those teams having solid RPI when we played them in November/December. The committee is only going to look at how those teams finished, and right now none of them appear on track to finish well.

Yep, there would be some no doubt. And that would be pretty idiotic, but don't disagree with you at all.

I get the rivalry part. But the funny thing is a large portion, of fans complain that playing ISU in football is terrible because they suck its a lose lose. I get that, but now you some people saying you want ISU to suck at basketball, even though them being good would be the opposite of football so seems like a win-win.
Confused.;)

I think they should actually be more afraid of this guy

Kane-ejected-byu-iowa-state.jpg

""If anybody thinks that was (on purpose) -- maybe they're crazy,â€￾ Kane told reporters Friday. “I was just trying to make a basketball play."

No suspension. No apology. Were there any repercussions whatsoever for this, beyond his ejection?

Well said. I love the idea of playing ISU with something to gain on the line. It never happens in football and doesn't happen much in basketball. Hopefully the Hawks take advantage of it!

Were you expecting one?

Remember, this is the same game that Melvin Ejim flipped off the BYU crowd after he foulded out and then was defended by his athletic director for his actions.

I even heard the Rick Flair, "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" during the telecast

There are a whole slew of Iowa posters on CF that are far more inflammatory than I am over there, and they've been there for a long time. The whole "Chris Williams bans Hawk fans immediately" schtick is ********. Unless you're being an honest to God troll (or cross the line in the P/C forum), you're not going to get the axe over there.

Pretty sure it ain't just CW doing the bannings. There are quite a few mods who don't care to hear anything negative about the clowns. In comparison to what clown trolls get away with on this board, they have pretty quick trigger fingers over there.

What do you expect for the same clown who got tossed out of a high school basketball game?
