VotH Reporting 3 Finalists for the DC Job

According to Todd Worly of VoiceoftheHawkeyes.com, Aaron Curry, Sr. (father of potential Iowa recruit Aaron Curry, Jr.) was told by LeVar Woods that the three finalists for the DC job are Phil Parker, Brian Ferentz, and Tom Bradley.

Edit: Just re-read the post on VotH and it says that they are 3 "possible names" and the thread has a question mark in the title (I definitely missed that the first time). I guess I may have jumped the gun a hair on this one, and for that, I apologize.

A bizarre list, with two being expected, but BF throws the whole thing for a loop. BF has never coordinated anything, but I'm guessing that KF is holding out to get what he wants (Brian). I'm sure he is doing some strong-arming.

Also, LeVar may want to keep his resume fresh. KF is nothing if not vindictive to those who do not fall in line.

Brian Ferentz, could be the reason the job posting continues to be pushed back. Waiting for the Patriots season to end.
if that's the case why was their OC able to interview and take the PSU job?

i would tend to agree here. plus i dont see how an ex-o-linemen and te coach would go after a dc job. common sense would be that he is more likely to come in when reese morgan retires. i have said that sometimes players are better at coaching things they didnt play so i dont think it would be completely off base. but if brian would be dc be ready for at least 1 other coach (parker and/or wilson) to leave because then the dc job wont open up in their time here.

Brian Ferentz as DC candidate is a very wild speculation, akin to Hillary Clinton running for the Repub presidential nomination.

Nothing against Brian, but I will be really ****** if he is the choice. Bradley is the most qualified of these 3 and would probably do the best job. However he comes with baggage that probably isn't his but it is what it is.

Honestly if these are the 3 finalist then I want Bradley. While others are quick to point out guilty by association, I'm not one of those, after all his name never came up at any point in time during the sick investigation either.

There is no way on this earth KF would even consider his 20 something son for a coordinator job which makes me question the validity of the rumor.

Brian Ferentz would definitely be the most high-risk/high-reward candidate. Part of it would depend on how much freedom Kirk would give Brian.

Brian is from a different generation than the other coaches. He is probably not set in any given philosophy. He has been in the NFL for 5 years now. He has probably seen and scouted a variety of NFL schemes. To a professional football coach, offense and defense are not that different. To be good at coaching offensive schemes you need to understand defense schemes and vice-versa.

Certainly would be an interesting hire.

Bringing in his own son, to a team on a downward slide,to replace a legend of a defensive coordinator has disaster written all over. Brian Ferentz will become a huge scapegoat if our defense struggles at all.

I don't think Brian is a serious canidate. IMO, he is being considered to help him be considered for other opportunities down the line. It's between Parker and Bradley. Then does Parker stay if he doesn't gt it?

Remember there are two openings. If Parker gets the DC spot then that leaves room for Brian on the staff. I would be very surprised if Brian comes in as the DC. I wouldn't read too much into any connection between Brian and the DC opening.

Smart post.......

Here is a “thinker”……..honestly I’m more bothered by how pigeon holed people are into their mindsets than I am whether they are hateful to Iowa or not. The “supreme” irony here is a “these” guys are constantly bothered by KF and his supposed conservative, I/e: closed minded nature and insight!?
Yet their thinking is soooooo “closed” off I can’t fathom how they can get thru life or even have an objective opinion. Which obviously they can’t. In fact calling someone closed minded is the exact antithesis of what the accused really are yet mirrors the accusers…..!! I so enjoy psychology.

Back on point………….hiring Brain, although not my preference would most assuredly be THE answer to these closed minded dimwits. No one rocks the cradle like your son. He is less likely to cow-tow (which I doubt really happens, despite what the rocket scientist think) and more likely to bring “new” thought to the table and have strong opinions. I’m telling you, these guys on these message boards all would make terrible executives if they talked and thought like this openly across a dialogue table. It really is sickening…..thank goodness they aren’t in charge of the football program; we’d be the laughing stock of college football. Here is a guy good enuff to be on the staff of what many (including these brainiacs) consider one of the finest in football and yet here they are STILL complaining…..

And to think Levar would go out on his own and say something KF wasn’t okay with is….well what’s the point. Honestly if you use your head, you can really surmise a lot of things about people, life and what is likely and what isn’t. For the most part there are few people on here like that…….

For the record, I would be a little surprised at Brian getting the job and it’s not who I’m pulling for, but it should completely, totally and forever change what people’s perceptions of KF are. But see…..it won’t. Because they are stuck in their antiquated thinking and biases, regardless of where the Truth lies……its sad!
