Vikings @ Saints game thread

Really? I will say that Farve didn't lose the game for Minnesota, but he certainly kept the Saints in it. You say he made one mistake, but that one mistake gave the Saints the opportunity to win that game. If he throws it away, or runs out of bounds, he gives his own team a chance to win.

To claim Farve has no culpability in that loss is not only wrong, but it is ludicrous.

They lose by 20 if Favre doesnt play like he did tonight. To put the blame on him shows you have the football IQ of a 2 year old.

I'm feelin' ya dawg...I was just trying to say that the Vikes can't complain about OT when they had a golden chance before it got there.

Correct. They had plenty of chances. Hard to win when you turn it over twice inside the 10 yard line and have what 5 turnovers?

I HATE the Vikings, trust me, but they were the better team tonight and lost. If this would have been Iowa, I would be crying like a little girl right now, lol.

I didn't say to blame him for the loss, I said he has culpability in the loss. Look it up if you're still confused.

Other players made big mistakes, and yes, Farve did only make one mistake. But he made the worst mistake and at the most important time.

The worst mistake was 12 men in the huddle. Favre hands off without that penalty....

TMI 20...TMI! :p

I'll say the 4th and 1 was bit weird, but it was hard to tell where the ball landed once it got into the pile. PI was an easy call, Leber never turned around and that's going to get called everytime.

None of that happens if the Gunslinger doesn't show up with his team in field goal range. Tonight wasn't the first night Brett cost him team a win with a mind-blowingly stupid interception - you just know how it feels now.

Imagine that, Saints fans being partisan in their own building. Crazy!

I'm not talking about Saints fans in the stands. I'm talking about people watching on TV. I'm a fan of neither team so I'm calling these things from a place of dispassionate observation. As a football fan I found those two calls to be egregious, independent of anything Favre may have done preceding them (and no, he should not have thrown that pass.)

I feel bad for Favre and Vikings fans. The fumbles were just ridiculous. And why Favre didn't just tuck it and run for 3 yards (if he wasn't 40, he could have gotten 8 yards easy)...I really wanted a Favre/Manning Super Bowl. Of course I don't know who I would have rooted for, and now I know for sure I'll be pulling for the Colts. I hope that Favre comes back for one more year and maybe the Vikings will win it all next year.

As for me I am Laughing my A$$ off!!!! I HATE the Vikings and Farve! He is the NFL version of Tebow. It makes me sick to listen to the media fawn all over this guy. He was a "cash for clunkers quarterback" and he choked when the chips were down and his team needed him the most! Just like his last appearance in the NFC title game. LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL!!!!!!!!!
The only person I feel bad for is Chad Greenway. Loved him as a Hawk, but not even his presence on the team can ease my disdain for the Vikes.

Must be rough having a Super Bowl ring, nearly every qb record, and a top 3 QB all-time. the Vikings were a .500 team without him this season. i am amazed by posts like this.

Worst post i have ever read on this board. Favre made ONE bad play tonight, he wasnt helped with the two fumbles inside the 10. The fact is the Vikings would have never been in OT without Favre, he kept them in the game all night long. I understand you hate Favre obviously but you look pretty darn ignorant with your comments, wow.

I thought mods were supposed to take the high road? Anyhow, I digress. Should I agree with ThunderHawk that the officials cost the Vikings the game?

Hey, the 2 teams that rested their starters and didn't try to go undefeated got to the Super Bowl. Um, I guess it worked, right?

+1000

Vikings in the SuperBowl without those fumbles. The Vikings would have been milking the clock rather than trying to get yards. Also whomever was the 12th man in the huddle out of the timeout. That coach should be fired.

That would be Childress; the Vikings had just called timeout on the previous play so they couldn't call another one. Still, with a kicker like Longwell, why risk something bad happening? Just put that ball in the middle of the field and let him kick it. He's made kicks from that distance before.

The Vikings lost this game because of one simple word...TURNOVERS. It wasn't poor officiating folks. If they take care of the football during the first 60 minutes of the game, there is no overtime, and Minny wins by 2 scores.

The crying about officiating is ridiculous, weak, and misplaced. Vent your anger at the players for not producing.

Favre's pick was a ridiculous throw on a ridiculous play call. As a Packer fan, what Favre did tonight was something that we had seen many many times in the playoffs. It's part of the package. He'll look amazing one minute, then do something incredibly stupid the next.

Did i say it wasnt a poor throw? Nope.

Green Bay should be thankful for Favre, he turned around a dead franchise and gave them a super bowl ring. Funny how short Packer fans memories are, wow.

this is dead on.

No, but you also seem unwilling to say that it was bad decision on a bad play? My memories of Favre tossing game-losing interceptions in a Packer uniform are still pretty fresh. After all, it was only 2 years he did the exact same thing, and he did it against the Eagles a few years before that.

Packer fans don't have short memories, but there is probably a feeling of poetic justice tonight, along with just a hint of irony, and a dash of karma.
