Vikings @ Saints game thread

Interesting plot point - the NO kicker Hartley was suspended for using a banned substance earlier this year. It's funny how baseball players are cast as villains but football players are welcomed back into the fold - Shawn Merriman and Rodney Harrison as a couple of examples. I realize the numbers in baseball are sacred, but I found this an interesting point.

I am serious. Did you watch the overtime? Did you watch the replay where the dude lost the ball in the air well short of the first down on 4th and 1? Or the "pass interference?"

I think the only people in America who thought that dude had the first down yardage on that 4th down play were the idiot review refs and highly partisan Saints fans.

I'll say the 4th and 1 was bit weird, but it was hard to tell where the ball landed once it got into the pile. PI was an easy call, Leber never turned around and that's going to get called everytime.

None of that happens if the Gunslinger doesn't show up with his team in field goal range. Tonight wasn't the first night Brett cost him team a win with a mind-blowingly stupid interception - you just know how it feels now.

Imagine that, Saints fans being partisan in their own building. Crazy!

Worst post i have ever read on this board. Favre made ONE bad play tonight, he wasnt helped with the two fumbles inside the 10. The fact is the Vikings would have never been in OT without Favre, he kept them in the game all night long. I understand you hate Favre obviously but you look pretty darn ignorant with your comments, wow.

Minnesota can't complain too much...if Favre runs instead of passes, this game is over 20 minutes ago.

Seriously, you are smarter than this Shane.

If the vikings dont puke the ball away all night, this game was over long ago. How ANYONE can put this on Favre is ridiculous.

mayeb the vikings and Farve are in the lockerroom singing a new song.....called fumbles on the ground, fumbles on the ground...cant go to the superbowl when you fumble on the ground

+1000

Vikings in the SuperBowl without those fumbles. The Vikings would have been milking the clock rather than trying to get yards. Also whomever was the 12th man in the huddle out of the timeout. That coach should be fired.

What are you talking about 20? I wasn't putting all of the blame on him...but if he runs instead of throwing that pick, they kick the winning FG in regulation...calm down.

Hurts being a Vikings fan, but the 3 fumbles killed.. then the review booth and refs already had it in their head who was gonna win. Absolutely TERRIBLE calls in OT. N there shouldn be a sudden score either, give both teams a damn shot

Really? I will say that Farve didn't lose the game for Minnesota, but he certainly kept the Saints in it. You say he made one mistake, but that one mistake gave the Saints the opportunity to win that game. If he throws it away, or runs out of bounds, he gives his own team a chance to win.

To claim Farve has no culpability in that loss is not only wrong, but it is ludicrous.

I was really hoping for a Manning/Favre Superbowl so this kinda sucks. At least now I can put all my rooting energy behind Manning, Clark, and the Colts.

If you were not, my apologies. My point was 6 fumbles and 12 men on the field were killers in this game. Despite all of the Viking mistakes toinght Favre kept them in the game and put them in a position to even be in it late despite his late INT.

I'm feelin' ya dawg...I was just trying to say that the Vikes can't complain about OT when they had a golden chance before it got there.
