How do you think he compares to Connor at the same point in time? Or is it unfair to compare due to different skill sets, positions, etc.?

Quite a bit different as players. I think Connor was more developed at this point in time but Patrick has a higher ceiling, IMO.

I see a very slow awkward kid who can manage to put a finishing touch on. Way to early to predict. But he is way behind what most Big recruits would be at this point, but could change. Dribbles way to high. He does slow moves against shorter, much shorter players. If he weren't Fran's kid he would be getting no attention, except maybe by coaches who are looking for a diamond in the rough.

When I see Conner I see a slower JB with less crisp passes and a not technically correct shot. Conner is mid major at best. More like D2.

My concern is that if Fran is gearing for his sons (where have we seen this before at Iowa), it may get ugly. Maybe not Little/Big Lick ugly, but ugly.

You're entitled to your opinions but I could not disagree more with it. And to make the Lickliter comparison is just ridiculous, IMO.

Interesting take.

From everything I've gathered I see CM as a mid-major type prospect.

As far as Pat goes you have to understand he's still growing into his body as they say. He's only a sophomore in high school. Based on Rob's video he is already a much more fluid runner than he was in the videos I saw from this summer. If he gets to a legit 6'8/6'9 level and continues to develop his outside shot, I think he's a very intriguing prospect.

Patrick reminds me a lot of Michael Finke with a less developed shot. And yes, he will grown and develop. Tim Finke (Michael's brother) is pretty highly recruited and has been since a freshman. Big difference between he and Patrick, but as I mentioned, Patrick has a lot of growing to do. His shot is not sweet, but again could improve. What is impressive is that with his awkwardness, he seems to be able (at least in highlights), pull it together at the end of the stroke.

You thinking my Lick comment is ridiculous is no less so than mine. You want access to coaches and I get that. Rah rah. You want to be snide, expect push back.

Those weren't very impressive highlights but that's a pretty harsh opinion of him.

Your narrative that I write things based on wanting access to coaches is tired. You trotted the same nonsense out with football. It's BS.

If you're going to question my integrity expect blowback.

I don't have any idea who you are. You're an anonymous guy on a message board.

I'm not recruiting expert but having seen both of these kids play in person I'm very high on Patrick and not so much on Connor.

I think Patrick will end up having the size of a 4 but many of the attributes of guards making him a very difficult guards as a stretch 4. Furthermore, as Rob mentioned in his article, he'll be a shot blocker and help defend the rim.

Connor just doesn't fit the normal fit for any position on the floor. I don't think he can play the PG at the Big Ten level and I don't think he's skilled offensively enough to play the wing.

I'm not a talent expert but I liked what I saw from Patrick's film, considering the age and how much he's had to grow into his body. Not sure he's a top 100 recruit but he has some skills and his upside is higher than Conner's at first blush.

I've seen Patrick play 3 times in the last 2 months, here's my opinion of him. He's not slow footed at all. It might appear that way because he's long and thin but he can move his feet pretty well and he can move them laterally. Good basketball IQ. He sees the floor well. He just needs to get stronger. He might have the ugliest jump shot I've seen in a long time. That might be due to his needing to get stronger. Nice high release point, though. He won't get many shots blocked. He does dribble a little too high but he has good handles. Way above avg for a SF.

The interesting situation is going to be at SF when Patrick gets to Iowa. I think Weiskamp will play SF. Connor is a combo guard and he/Bohannon will play the 1/2 positions. With Weiskamp at the 3, I'm not sure where Patrick will fit in. He cannot play the 4.

He cannot play the 4.

I hope you are wrong about this. If he is already 6'7 and continues to fill out over the next couple years I think he will be able to get minutes at the 4. Baer is listed at 6'7 / 205 and he has played minutes it the 4 this year.

And you were complaining the other week about people calling you a troll. Now they have exhibit A for their defense.

He'd have to put on 40 or 50lbs of muscle to be effective at the 4. If I had to guess, I'd say he weighs 170 lbs right now.

I bet he's more than 170 and he has three summers to get stronger.

You may be right, but I hope your'e wrong simply because as you said with Joe W coming in there might not be a ton of minutes at 3.

I gave an honest opinion. You upped the anti with an insult. I pushed back. He is not Big talent ...yet. Certainly you can see that. You can give an honest assessment withouout dissing him. But its all rah rah. He would noy project out big ten for his age.
