Very interesting comment from Abrahamson on Iowa...

Maybe I'm reading too much into this but I know this kid personally and he's rather smart so maybe he knows something we don't. Here's a comment he made in the Chicago Tribune to Teddy Greenstein -

Asked if he’ll get flak back home for not committing to the Hawkeyes, Abrahamson told the Tribune: “A couple of my friends who are going there might have a problem with it, but mostly people will be supportive.â€￾

Couple means two. Could this be Gesell AND Woodbury? The three of them have been in talks about all going to same school but obviously that's not going to happen now, however, 2 of his friends are Mike and Adam...

Very interesting!

You know him, so just ask him, and you can break the story! ;)

HawkeyeRhyno, thanks for sharing that. These three guys have played ball together all summer, seem to have a rapport with each other and seem bright. The things they say at this point don't seem a coincidence. As pointed out yesterday, Adam hinted as well when he said stay with me and see what I have to say. He wants to bide his time but I think has already made up his mind.

When school starts back up I will! Not sure he'd tell me that though, in fact he would probably say what stormin said. Plus I wouldn't want to say anything until after it was official. If I know something for sure, I will wait so I don't get in trouble...I've learned from my past experiences with this.

But if you don't hear from me then maybe that's a positive thing...:D

We obviously can't do anything but speculate but he wouldn't have had to say "playing there" to refer to Gesell and Woodbury. "Going there" says the same thing a little more subtley. This kid plans to accept a scholarship from Northwestern so he obviously has the smarts to say things between the lines.

He probably meant a couple people that would try to blow it up on message boards...like your instance ;)

Thinking about some of the reactions to this thread we obviously have no way of knowing whether Abrahamson meant to imply anything with the comment he made in that interview or not. Woodbury will speak for himself in due time.

In the bigger picture sometimes I think we underestimate the media savviness of these young athletes. Having the talent to play sports at a high major college level automatically and increasingly involves interacting with the media in all forms. I also think that growing up with the technology of instant communication like this generation has makes these kids pretty aware of what they say publicly and how they say it.

I don't know what to think. I was told in April by someone I trust, someone VERY well known and respected in national basketball circles that Woody was a Hawk. A lot can change of course, so take that with a grain of salt (as I did). It would be pretty cool though!
