I don't even know where to start. Petras still hasn't figured out how to escape a sack. Goodson dances around too much because our O-line is shit aside from Linderbaum. Brian Ferentz called a terrible game yet again. Our defense was exposed today too. The middle of the field was wide open all day and they made David Bell look like Bo Jackson.

We knew our inept offense would fail us at some point, but our defense also gave up 24 points.

Purdue dominated both sides of the line of scrimmage, d backs learned you can't give 5 yards of room for every Purdue receiver, Petras has cement shoes on, and we were flat out coached. Furthermore, a drunk dude in a wheelchair has a better chance of escaping pressure than Petras.

The idea is to give your QB some pass protection. Petras had very little time. Petras is not very fast but neither was Stanley and he won 3 bowl games because of the All American left and right tackles he had. We are woefully short at the Off Tackle position, both sides.

On the other side we did not pressure their QBs at all so that 5 yard cushion we give on pass coverage was exposed. No interceptions when you cant pressure.

The recipe to beat Iowa is the pass rush on both sides. If we can pressure QBs and we get time to run and pass the ball we can beat most all teams. But our opponents definitely saw today the blueprint to beat us.

Wisky is going to try to run the ball down our throats then sneak in some play action.

That DB comment isn’t on the DBs. That’s an indictment of the entire scheme. Really, it’s what happens when a team can both completely nullify the pass rush and has a generational WR. I believe they should have played more man, at least mixed some in. They did not.

I'm right there with you. My uncle sent me a condolences message. I told him I expected to get Ferentzed a couple times this year. I really enjoy the wins, but the losses don't affect me any more

If it wasn't Purdue it would be NW. Not surprised or disappointed. If you want Nattie's buy a cold 12 pack or switch to one of the schools loaded with top recruits. We are what we are and what we've always been. Could be worse we could be clone fans! So quit letting it ruin your day!

We were never #2...or #5...or #10. We started the season very vulnerable in the West and we remain there

You simply dont understand Iowa football.... the scheme is 'bend but don't break' it has served us well for 20 years! an efficient offense will be able to expose the weakness, A very weak Iowa offense will greatly expose the defense. Its football, you have to be able to out score your opponenent

If what you say is accurate, name one other team in the country that lays 3 to 5 yards off of receivers as part of their scheme. We did not put any pressure on the QB and it looked like we were scared to get up into their receivers. If that's the scheme going forward we are in a world of hurt.

Christ, you guys really suck at reading comprehension. The DBs don’t decide when to play man. Phil Parker does.

As to your question, every team that plays zone. Parker was as stubborn as Kirk this game in not making meaningful adjustments, but that’s not the DBs fault.
