utah invited to pac-10

In Utah and Colorado they now have the Denver and Salt Lake City markets. Also Utah beat Bama a few years ago in tghe Sugar Bowl. Plus there BB team is always good

I have been snowboarding in Utah about 50 times and have yet to meet a Utah fan, also, I've lived in Boulder and Denver and actually neither city gives a crap about the Buffaloes. There's just as many CSU fans in Denver and the CSU fans are more hardcore. On the flipside, every single man, woman, and child loves the broncos, thats all that matters in Denver.

Denver and Colorado in general is very passionate about their sports... just generally not college sports, for whatever reason. And I'm not sure that it can just be chalked up to the Broncos, seeing as college sports have been around much longer.

Anybody else getting the impression the PAC 10 is not really thinking this thing thru very much. Just go-on-the-fly. Making revenue quotes to teams that aren't really that accurate & just trying to fill a conference roster. I would be very leary just as Texas & OK was. But, Utah doesn't have much to lose with more money & notoriety.

wow. utah. what exactly does Utah add to this conference except a warm body?

SLC is a large, beautiful city with a large airport and a bunch of corporate money. Out of state fans will ove to travel to SLC because it is a great town, it is easy and cheap to get to, and there is a ton to do. They already have respectable programs now and will probably only grow with the influx of money they recieve.

Outside of the Texas package, there was really no other choice, except BYU. Not even close.

Denver and Colorado arent much different than Minneapolis and Minnesota.....no one cares about college sports

...and alot of the people that do care about college sports are not from Denver or Colorado so they follow their hometown teams...lots of Hawks and Clones in Denver.

What's a Jack Mormon?

A Jack Mormon is one that is not a hook-line-and-sinker follower of the Religion, i.e., they might drink a Coke, or even (gasp) a Beer on occasion. They might not go to Church with absolute regularity. They might have premarital sex, etc. True Mormons would call Jack Mormons "Mormon in name only."

To get a sense of the way the state follows each program, Utah averages about 45,000 a game. BYU averages about 65,000 a game. It will be interesting to see how these numbers adjust when Utah starts bringing in the other Pac Ten teams.

Jack Mormon - Why do you never take only one mormon fishing? He'll drink all your beer.

Lived in SLC for 10 years. Great town and great area. Overbuilt these days like everywhere else that's nice but good place and good people.
