Cam Miller _ NDSU QB

Our top ranked recruit by Rivals (2nd by ESPN) was a 4* QB, Deuce Hogan. We typically only take 1 QB per class, so we went with the 4* and not the no star. He could've walked on, but I think he made the right choice.

Evaluated Trey Lance and wanted him to be a safety…maybe the same thing occurred this time.:)
In fairness to BF on that several other schools including Mr Row the boat did too. Imagine if we had a decent damn QB coach/OC during the last 10 yrs or so. We didn't need to get an Andrew Luck to be good. We just needed to not be incompetently bad at it.

Can someone please refresh my memory as to why this guy did not get a shot at Iowa?

13/19 180 yds 3 TD

Led NDSU to FCS Finals.
31 Tds to 4 picks... 72% completion 3000 yards. From Solon just up the road... Just another swing and miss by BF. Anyone that tries saying he isn't good enough for D1 I'll call BS on that. He won't be a 1st round pick but he'll be given a shot at the NFL too. He's legit.

Interesting that Tim Polasek is now Cam Miller's head coach. Was Pollasek still on the Iowa staff when Miiller was being recruited?

Also interesting that Iowa's offense seemed to take a big nose dive after Polasek and KOK both left the Iowa staff, but maybe I am getting off the subject.

I think that Polasek was at least party responsible for the drop off in talent at the O-Line position that Barnett has had to deal with.

Those in the know will tell you that Polasek was an abusive a-hole on the practice field. I don't think Kirk was one bit disappointed when he left.

As far as o-line recruiting, if there is any stock to be put into rankings, we actually recruited well during that time period. There were a couple of injuries and/or defections that hurt, such as Davidkof, but Barnett inherited more than enough talent to work with.

A former 3 star recruit and state champion out of Texas, Deuce Hogan was the 15th ranked pro-style QB in the class of 2020, and holds school records in every category.
He transferred to NM State after spending two years at Kentucky from 2022-23 and played at Iowa in 2021. Hogan spent all of the 2024 offseason in close competition with Awad for the starting quarterback role, ultimately losing out.
