Urban and the B1G

What if any effect does this hire have on the B1G? Personally I feel it will make teams look and shoot higher for replacements and will also bring some bigger names in to the conference. Thinking this is a good thing for the B1G.

I was just wondering why I'm so pumped about urban coming to osu. Then I remembered how not pumped I am with kirk. Who makes big bucks too. The fire is gone.

I think Urban and Hoke are both going to do a good job restoring the BIG's reputation. UM will be gone in three years but I'll bet they make a run at the title at least once in those three years.

Listen Kirk had 7 wins. Not many coaches in the country can say that. It took Kirk 13 years to get to this point. So this Meir fellow has a long road ahead.

I think it was nice of ESPN to pay him for a year to basically scout his competition. It was not a coincidence he was doing b1g games IMHO.

All it means is that OSU becomes even better and more dominant than they were before their scandal. So cheating did not hurt OSU at all. They get caught, get their hand slapped, their conservative coach resigns, and they turn around and hire one of the best coaches in the country who will simply turn OSU into a juggernaut. After cheating, OSU will become even better than they were before and they won't even have to cheat now.

Iowa can chaulk up a loss every year to OSU. OSU will dominate Iowa even more now than it has the past 80 or 90 years. KF may never beat OSU during his entire tenure as coach.

Iowa thumped them in 2004, the last time OhStu was down and the last time Iowa tied for the B1G. Ironically, the year where massive injuries to the RB demanded that "balance" was not an option and they actually had to play to their strengths on offense. They were also packing NFL talent at 7 of 11 spots on defense.

Otherwise, it's a pretty safe bet that was the last and only win KF will have over the nuts.

55 D1-A schools have gotten to 7 wins so far this year.

Rick Neuheisel gets to 7 wins, the Rose Bowl, and goes from the unemployment line to a contract extension with a win Saturday. Talk about a BIG game for a guy, haha. Too bad for him it would have to be the upset of the century.

This might be mildly off topic, but at least as far as OSU and Iowa goes, it was refreshing to hear a coach speak openly and honestly to the media for once (Meyer yesterday), admitting coaching mistakes he has made in the past, etc.

KF has already defeated OSU.

It's good for the Big 10 to attract the top coaches so in that regard this is good news for the conference.

Some of you need to remember that OSU won 6 straight conference titles heading into this year and had 3 NC appearances the last decade. As good of a coach Meyer is, I don't foresee him beating that. He'll be fortunate to match that.

You mean never beat OSU AGAIN, right? It will be hard to chalk up a loss to OSU every year when we play them only every 3rd and 4th years, so after two losses at most, he will be gone by the next time we play them. Nice to see you're so optimistic about our chances.

All Urban Meyer to OSU means is that the "culture" at OSU hasn't really "changed". They never intended that, any more than USC or Miami/FL.

At Florida, a player threatened to KILL his girlfriend. Suspension lasted exactly as long as the next UF loss streak.
