Urb not happy with other B1G coaches

It will kill their ranking and that is what this is all about for Urb. Years ago, a one loss OSU team could make a case for a spot in the NCG, now they have to go undefeated AND hope because the B1G is sooooo bad while the SEC is going to be assured 2 probably 3 of those 4 spots.

I've already seen comments from both OSU & Michigan folks that say if their SOS sucks because the B1G sucks, that they should look to leave. I would too.

OSU needs to stop scheduling easy non-conference to beef up their SOS. I don't think they should look to leave, but once they stop playing Akron, or other cupcakes then they can complain the B1G is too easy.

Plus didn't OSU barely escape the almighty Indiana this past season?

Trust me there is not 1 chance in a 1000 OSU or Michigan are going to leave the Big Ten

You are more than likely right but if a superconference forms for football with, lets say, 24 teams kinda like the NFL. they will go.

I think there will be super conferences, but it wont be just for Football. That is not what the big schools want. This is just a opinion but I think there will be 4 and will include from 64-80 schools. May not include the NCAA

OSU has already started to make changes to their future non conference schedule and is looking to position themselves better for the now announced 4 team playoff. All BIG ADs supposedly agreed to do the same during meetings last year. It is their belief that the selection committee will somehow begin to introduce non conference SOS into the selection criteria.

Haven't seen Iowa say much about this or beef up their schedule yet. The rich prepare for the future and the rest are trying to figure out how to navigate the waters.

And yes, the SEC is going to get the triangle. 100% chance that happens. Georgia Tech delivering Atlanta is like saying I deliver Los Angeles. Neither is true and neither ever have a chance to be true. And folks have waaaay too high an opinion on Delany. He literally failed at every agenda item he had other than the BTN, which he gets waaaay to much credit for. The alumni numbers of the B1G made that whole thing a piece of cake. The guy added Rutgers for cripes sake. They had an athletic dept valued at $20 in 2010. $20! Not $20Million! $20. Or the equivalent of one lunch for two at Applebee's. LOL

UmmmmmmKaaaaaaaaaa......Delany just "lucked" into the BIG success......

When the Big Ten network was started, everyone assumed it would be a failure. The BIG was mocked for even attempting such a thing. Delany went out on a limb, and saw what nobody else even realized at the time. Just because you can NOW see what he saw years ago, makes him the brilliant one......not you because you now see it in retrospect.

Ask yourself this Trey. Would the BIG be strong today without the Big Ten Network? What other conference can be performing so badly, but still be the biggest player on the stage?

I'm not going to argue that the BIG is good competitively, but what you said in this post is just ridiculous.

This is accurate. Prior to BTN he also negotiated by far the best bowl package of any conference including SEC. Delany is a very, very sharp guy.

They have series with TCU, Oregon, and Texas coming up, and said they'll keep those regardless of how many games the B1G decides to play.

I wonder how Oregon is going to do with their coach gone. I think OSU-Texas in '05 is one on my all-time favorite not Iowa football games.

OK, continue to worship at the feet of Delany as he leads you to the promised land.
LOL

Delany went out on that limb because the TV exec's told him to take a hike. It wasn't some grande scheme that folks like yourself think it was. You are basically crediting a hungry person with eating.
And the B1G is most certainly not the biggest player on the stage. Delany was relegated to the kiddie table during the playoff discussions, losing battle after battle until he was finally allowed to claim strength of schedule as his baby. Which, ironically, helps the SEC even more. LOL

ALL HAIL DELANY!!!

What "TV exec's" are you referring to?

I'm not sure you're familiar with the history of BTN.

Where do I do any Delany worship? You said, and I quote: "He literally failed at every agenda item he had other than the BTN, which he gets waaaay to much credit for. The alumni numbers of the B1G made that whole thing a piece of cake."

I showed how that statement was demonstrably false. Now in this post you are saying TV exec's told him to take a hike. That was because he knew his product was worth more money than they were paying. So he found a way to get market value for his product. Nobody else was doing this, and nobody else had the balls to take on ESPN and the networks.

Delany has had some very good success, and has had some fails. Yet to call everything he has done as lucky or a fail is just re writing history.

As much as it pains me to say, I don't have a problem with the Big Ten wanting higher academic standards across the board. From a competitive sense it makes sense because it will help them close the gap, but further more I pay enough to support the UofI's athletic programs through purchasing season tickets and IClub contributions. What I don't need to do is to pay more into tickets and IClub contributions to bring in athletes that can't make it to the professional level but aren't smart enough to benefit from the free education. I'd rather pay for 4 years of an athlete's schooling then paying for their welfare later on in life when they can't make an impact on society as an athlete or professional.

Although it won't happen. I don't think it's asking too much for the NCAA to put an emphasis on education student athletes. How dare we expect a football player to be able to learn something along the way.

You realize you're calling out people for worshipping Delaney while your head is lodged in the *** of the SEC propaganda machine...Don't you see that being a bit hypocritical?

Well said.

I would love to see 60 Minutes dive into the NCAA?........who are these guys, what are their credentials, how are they structured, who makes the decisions? Maybe that's the wrong show, how about Jesse Ventura's old gig?

Urban Meyer wants the Big Ten to step up its recruiting game - CBSSports.com

Leave it to the new guy to just waltz on in and tell the rest of the conference what to do. Not that it takes a rocket scientist to grasp what he is saying, the B1G sucked giant balls at recruiting this year. The lowest ranked recruiting class in the $EC, Kentucky, out recruited seven B1G schools. However, outside of dragging the moral standards of the class down to $EC levels I don't see that there is much of a way the conference overall can improve on their results.
Fine Urban, then devote part of your recruiting process on behalf of your peers. Here is an Idea......Urban: "hey kenny...I know you are the #2 RB recruit in the country....we don't have room for you...why don't you go to Iowa...aside from me and tOSU they are the cat's meow!!!!"...

Works for me.

What propaganda? They've won 7 straight titles. Are they imaginary, did they not happen?

Delany, meanwhile, supports a university that harbored the worst child predator of all time; can't align divisions with any kind of common sense, names the division so pretentiously & arrogantly & adds the powerhouses of Rutgers & Maryland. One of which was worth $20 just 3 years ago, the other is so far in debt they've cut entire sports.

But I'm sure its part of Jim's grande plan!!!@!!!

LOL

D E M O G R A P H I C S

Hard to compete with the southern states regardless of how well we recruit down there. Sure Michigan, Ohio State can pluck a few athletes, but for every one they get... Florida gets 6 players.

Trey, dude I'm not hating or attempting to flame. We can remove the "propaganda" part from my earlier thread. Let me try it again.

I find it ironic and hypocritical that the guy with his head lodged up the *** of the all powerful SEC can call out people for not sharing his opinion of Delaney. I don't think I'm the only one here that has read anything from you other than how good the SEC is, and how bad the Big Ten is. We get it already. Now take a deep breath.
