Updated Win totals

Getting to Wisconsin's level is realistic and very doable with the right coaching and recruiting. Getting to an Alabama/Clemson/Ohio State level simply isn't going to happen. There are too many factors (location being the biggest one) that make that impossible.
Agree on Wisconsin...has been "A Bridge Too Far" for Kirk but is the key to going to the next level. Win the West, good things happen.

Actually, it's only four fewer games.

66 games for 2015 - 2019, including the CCG.

62 games for 83 - 87. I checked it, 84 & 87 were thirteen game seasons, 83, 85, 86, twelve game seasons.

But in the 80's they still had ties. I know there was at least 1 tie in 1984. And although we are not counting 1988 in this example, just as an FYI - 1988 had 3 ties in a weird 6-4-3 season.

So you are happy with the season's results?

I want Iowa to win every single game. I just happen to understand the landscape of college football, so I know that can't happen. I can' also see a very good Iowa 5 season run for what it is.

Now please explain to me just how Iowa's last 5 year run is unacceptable. I mean that is what you are complaining about all the time is how bad Iowa is. Please explain to me how the last 5 years have been so awful.

KF is a solid coach. Actually quite good. What is odd is the continuing saga of having a broken piece or 2 that are hard to explain such as punting 2 years, QB who is amazing and terrible in same quarter...meaning really terrible and really good. No running game every so many years or no receivers.

Unbelievable O line or terrible O line with several really good ones. The extremes ARE unusual.

For about 5 years he made questionable decisions.....Doyle award.

But the guy has been overall solid with asterisks Take out a few of those items and Badgers would be looking up.
Agree with this.
My primary frustration is with the poor play of our OL and run game the last few years. Given the primary expertise of KF and BF is - supposedly - the OL, this should be the sweet spot for Iowa - not one of, if not the weakest part of the program at this point.
When we come up short because of a weakness in what was our former strength, it does make the season frustrating for many of us.

We have systemic issues with offensive line/rushing game. One year could be just a year of injuries, or down play, or tough schedule, or some other issue. Yet when looking at the '17, '18 and '19 seasons you have to realize it is more than that. The Ferentz's better be looking long and hard under that hood and modernizing that just as they did the passing game when Greg Davis moved on.

I don't recall using the word awful, perhaps that is coming from you.

I don't see it as unacceptable either, just some wasted opportunities along the way, with more talent than Iowa usually has at its disposal.

This has been a good season, even better with a bowl win. Iowa needs to find a way to beat Wisconsin, long losing streaks to the cream of the crop in the West is a recipe for average results, it seems to me, although I don't "understand the landscape" as well as you, perhaps.

I wish we had a more competent OC and/or a HC that throttles the offense less.

So you are happy with the season? It isn't that difficult a question, is it?

My two cents...

Fry won the B1G twice with 6-2 records, but another year he went 6-2 and didn't win the B1G, and another time he went 7-1 and didn't win it. You can't always control what other teams do, and you can't always win the one that counts.

Am I happy with the season? Sure it was a 9 win season with a shot at 10 wins. Would I be happier if we beat Wisconsin and lost to ISU? Yep. Didn't happen though, and when I look at what Iowa has done compared to other P5 teams over the last 5 years, yeah I really freaking happy about the 5 year run.
