Uniform Question

With the forecast calling for mid 90's on Saturday for the game it's going to be brutal for the good guys not only having to put up with the field surface temps but also the black uniforms they will be wearing. My question is, what are the rules in regards to home/away uniforms and can a team switch to their away whites for a home game? I know it probably wouldn't happen anyway because it's a part of Iowa's tradition to be in home black but there could be a definite upside if Iowa came out in white's.

I think the Home team gets to pick what color they wear. I know Purdue is wearing home black on the road at Cincy this week cause Cincy wants to wear all white. Regarding Iowa, they will be wearing traditional Black shirts with Gold pants per equipment manager Greg Morris.

Greg Morris @iowashoeguy - Relax out there. Black jerseys gold pants

I get what you are saying about the black jerseys but I don't see it as that much of an advantage for Northern Illinois to wear white. A big advantage I do see for Iowa is that with the press box the Iowa sideline should be in the shade for most, if not all of the game since it is a 2:30 start, while the Northern Illinois sideline will be in the sun for the whole game.
