Uniform article on Bleacher Report

You see what I mean ^^^ People that care more about tradition then recruiting are a part of the problem..

New uniforms would boost recruiting about as much as the $40 hotdog credit will boost season ticket sales. There's no correlation between uniform creativity and recruiting success. (Unless of course you're Oregon and the unis might as well have the dollar signs right on them).

Plenty of teams with "traditional" unis putting great teams on the field...plenty of "out there" unis on teams with crappy products. And vice versa.

Just put Fred Flintstone at the proper angle on the helmet and be done with it.

Personally....I liked the '58 throwback unis.

Iowa suffers from boring style of play, not uniforms.

This. winning more games and scoring points gets better recruits. If Oregon was a .500 team and scored 17 points a game, those "baller" unis and sweet facilities would help very little.

Have 1-2 alt unis, great. Tweak this uni, great. don't touch the tigerhawk. Ever.

I've seen some cool ideas thrown around. The away jerseys here look almost Green Bay Packerish. I don't want to go away from ole reliable too much either. But throwing in something new and different every now and then is a great thing to do for recruiting if for nothing else. You'll never get an entire fan base behind something like this so just do it once in awhile.

I am trying not to be a old fart about this. I want to have an open mind, but there is just too much going here. I prefer subtle changes, not the "hey look at me" flashy changes, granted this has a lot to do with my age.

I don't want to see a change to our traditional uniform/logo. Our logo is one of the most recognizable in college sports. If we could do some of these new designs as alternates 1-2 times a year that would be great. A few years ago when they had the Tigerhawk with the American flag along with the stadium involvement was an instant classic. I didn't like the grey helmet as much but it was a change from the same thing every game. I wish Kirk and Greg Davis would take a chance on offensive game planning as our marketing people do for Veteran's day.

One of the main reasons Oregon isn't a .500 team that only scores 17 points a game is because of their sweet facilities, not just the the athletic stuff but the player's lounge attracts top notch talent. Players basically live there.

^So when are our sweet facilities going to start paying off?

It depends on if Iowa continues to update them as Oregon has. Under Ferentz, I'm not sure it will matter because he is such a poor recruiter.

New athletic facilities are kinda like being the first guy on your block with the state of art TV/computer/etc. Your buddies are in awe for about a year. In 2 years, everyone has at least the same thing or better, and in 3, its outdated. Will Iowa continue to make the financial commitment in years to come when they may have a coach who has the ability to take advantage of them?

They were winning, a lot, and scoring tons of points prior to those facilities. it was a bad example on my part anyway, because...Phil Knight.

That said, not sure he does all that prior to them becoming a perennial power. Actually, he didnt.

Not saying facilities aren't extremely important in recruiting. super duper awesome sweet unis though, meh, its a bonus I guess.
