Phil has a couple kids not sure what their home life is like but if he has Grandkids that can easily become a new “hobby”. I’m sure if they are in sports etc he doesn’t get to see as much as he wants. Why does everyone think Phil rides off into the sunset with Kirk? What the F is that guy gonna do then? He's only 62. He doesn't have any hobbies. He's probably not even a little worn out, like Kirk some days, since he doesn't have to deal with the administration, boosters, or media. He usually rides his bike to work in the morning, and even home from games. He is living a kids' life. In many ways, he has Kirk's dream job. His time at Iowa might be done when his boss is gone, but I'd guess Phil has a lot of years coaching football left in him. He might even take a year off and come back and coach high school. But I'd guess he'll spend the majority of his years left on this earth coaching football.
I'm pretty sure Phil said as much. He and KF apparently are very close (possibly best friends by some accounts) and I assume when you have coached as long as both have together, you likely make some sort of unsaid pact that you go out together. I mean maybe he changes his mind, but I'm pretty sure he went on record stating when KF goes, he goes too. Not like he will need the money. Why does everyone think Phil rides off into the sunset with Kirk? What the F is that guy gonna do then? He's only 62. He doesn't have any hobbies. Yep.When Bri got dumped and Kirk wanted to re-assert some control over his program, it would have been the perfect time to name Woods associate HC while naming Wallace assistant DC.
Woods still with the team in that scenario? Probably?
Instead he went all in with Wallace.
Also, by the time KF does hang them up, I am guessing Parker is closer to 65. At that age, reporting to a new boss can be...shall we say...tedious. I bet they retire together.I'm pretty sure Phil said as much.
