UNI coaching search

I thought there were some interesting names on the candidates list, including a guy that played OL at Iowa. Also the guy who started at QB at UNI in front of Kurt Warner for most of Warner's career at UNI.

I also saw a couple of ISU assistants with UNI ties that were not interested. Maybe assistant jobs in the P4 pay too much now. Maybe that explains why Levar Woods did not apply.

UNI is FCS and has one of the smallest budgets in the MVC. He could get an FBS coordinator job, ain't no way he's going to apply for a job like that. Farley makes $400K which is chump change compared to the $700K plus bonuses Woods makes now like you said. He's got much, much bigger targets in his sights.

The FCS schools have almost no TV money. They get $20 a head for whomever shows up to the dome plus some popcorn money. The real money is if Iowa or Iowa State will schedule them for a million bucks. Beyond that, the hard costs of a football team are pretty substantial. Not a lot of high six figure coaching contracts at that level. I agree anything at that level is a stepdown for Woods.

Chinander is from Allison IA just up the road from Cedar Falls. Played for KF early on. No surprise he'd throw his hat in the ring for it. He's bounced around coaching and was with Frost when he went to Oregon UCF and then Neb if I remember right. Didn't realize he was in Boise most recently.

Bryce Paup is a name from the past. I remember him playing for the Bills tough as nails LB. I didn't realize he'd been on Farleys staff. It'll be interesting what route they go.
