Uh Oh

I want more Connor. He's our best guard by a wide margin and the way he was used last night, didn't really give him any opportunities to get into the rhythm of the game.
I think you’d be safe in saying that Connor is our best guard at handling ball pressure and initiating our offense. Saying he’s our best guard is a stretch considering what Bohannon has done the last two years.

Gotta love message board fans. If one of us says something negative about Fran or God forbid...a player, we're "haters" or Cyclone trolls. But if Dolph says it....you guys rally to his defense.
Well....I'm making a stand. Right here, right now. Gary Dolphin is a hater and closet Clown troll. How dare he???? Quick, gather the torches and the pitch forks.

I say "so what". Their comments were very accurate and if you can't take a little criticism you really aren't trying to improve. It's probably no worse than what 90% of us on this board would say sometime during the year. Hopefully with Toussaint coming in next year we address the problem they were referring to. If anyone should be reassigned, it's the engineer who left the mic open during the commercial.
Fran is "soft" when it comes to adversity. He is thin skinned and offended if someone challenges him. He tends to be entitled and above such things. The players get this same "softness" from him and display it on the court. Man up Fran, your recruiting of PGs absolutely sucks, and your coaching record at Iowa is as fragile as eggs. It is time for you and your team to man up, and keep improving, and quit being little babies. Show us something, rise above adversity and criticism on and off the court. Oh, shoot, my mike was on. And yes, your guards need to dribble with their heads up, especially since you can't seem to find a quick one.

He’s an espn guy who is a huge Iowa fan. He’s making fun of the ESPN crew on the game last night for doing a horrible job pronouncing Iowa players names.
Also talks about how nice it will be to have Connor's son Patrick on the team next year.

I don't understand why Connor isn't getting more minutes. He seems like a match-up nightmare for teams with smaller guards.

Dolphin's comments were spot on. Our guards are not that good.

Way to go, Dolph! He has nothing to apologize for.
Aren't the announcers "supposed to be" homers for the most part? They aren't paid to offer unbiased (and true) critical comments, are they?

Most team paid announcers, to me, are like the homers that infect the information that is dribbled onto our lives...be it Fox, or CNN, NPR...homers that cheer for those who support their cause and view of life.

If they are paid to be homers, (don't know), this could be serious for them, although their comments are honest and accurate.

yeah, you are probably right. I just like how the team plays on both sides of the court better when he's in the game. That doesn't make him our "best guard" I guess, but maybe a catalyst to Iowa playing their best ball.

yes...technically they are paid to be homers in Iowa's world. I have a feeling this will be blown way out of proportion. If we have learned anything about Fran, it's that he's fiercely loyal and protective of his players. He's going to react classic Fran is my guess. We will only see publicly about 10% of Fran's reaction though...internally it will be similar to his blow up a few years ago at Wisconsin, when police had to escort him from the court.

Sounds like an issue that needs to be handled behind the scenes by a competent AD.

I was definitely surprised at his lack of minutes last night in a game that seemed like we needed him in there to be strong with the ball and feed the post.

He asked why Iowa can't get any good recruits when Phil got three in his first year and we got Dailey who is dribbling with his head down. And he said God.

Honestly, that's a really good question that should be asked to both of our highly paid faces of Iowa athletics, and of their boss. It's refreshing to hear actual criticism. There's a distinct lack of it in Iowa media, and I think the U needs more of it, not less.
I thought it was more of a "Gaaad"
