UFC 118

As was Toney. That was a joke. Probably the worst card I can think of off the top of my head.

A friend of mine, who LOVES BJ Penn, traveled from DSM to Boston to watch those fights. I have not talked to her, but I think she's probably disappointed.

BJ Penn has always had problems with motivation/work ethic. His best days might be behind him. St. Pierre is a welterweight, matt hughes best days are behind him, Florian got beat, I need to take a peek at the lightweights to see who are the up and comers.

Gray Maynard vs. Frankie Edgar will probably be the most boring championship fight the UFC has ever seen.

I forget his name(the guy who promotes/ownes ufc), but he loves to get crap old boxers in there and let them get their *** kicked. Just to show to Boxing fans, that UFC is tougher/better or whatever.

Dana White.

I was hoping for 2 things. Either Toney would shock the world and somehow knock out Randy or that Couture would beat the living crap out of him and embarrass him for even stepping in the cage with him. Neither happened. Very dissapointing. Couture had to know he could submit him at anytime.

Whole card was very un-entertaining.

the UFC isnt deep enough to put on good cards every month....they should really do PPV's every two months or so. I know the UFC has control of WEC but I'd like to see some more cooperation and incorporate some of those light guys into the UFC shows as they have some great light guys who will throw from start to stop

So what happened to Toney? Out of shape, only box?

He got takin down within 20 seconds without throwing a punch to my recall. Randy mounted him. Tried throwing a few strikes but nothing real solid. He tried a few submissions before getting him with a side choke. There was seriously no action in it. Toney was outclassed which is why for the entertainment purpose I wish Randy would have just pummelled him...

man, i've been out of the UFC loop too long, all my fav's are on the downside. hughes is one of my all time fav's. can't believe randy is still going out there. can't stand GSP, does he still wear those ridiculous short shorts?

BJ Penn looks "soft" for a guy that fights for a living. He needs to add strength to be competitive because he was physically outmatched.

I remember James Toney fighting Micheal Nunn in Davenport in the early 90's. Nunn was way up on the scorecards late in the fight and got KO. Iowa's best ever boxed got handed his first loss.

i agree there are to many ppv's! im surprised they are only at 118 seems like its the 118th this year alone

This was a terrible UFC. Aside from the Couture/Toney fight, it wasn't too bad on paper... but the fights were boring as hell. Even the BJ Penn fight was somewhat of a snoozer. Frankie Edgar will be a boring champ. He has good skills, but is not flashy at all. He needs a big knockout or something in his next defense. Yes Gray Maynard vs. Edgar will be boring and can hardly headline a PPV. But then again they are hyping UFC 119 as Mir vs. Cro Cop. That's a terrible headline bout. Mir just plain sucks.. and so does Cro Cop anymore... these are not main event fighters. If anything this would be a good undercard fight. Good thing I watch these for free or I wouldn't watch at all.

I think once a month is fine for PPVs, but they need better fights and they need to have a title fight every month. These stupid Mir vs. Cro Cop UFCs with no title bouts are pointless.

They need to force these guys to fight once every 60-90 days. Sometimes they wait 6 months or longer between fights. That's ridiculous.

Also I've never been disappointed by a WEC PPV.. there should be more of these. Korean Zombie ftw.

I want to see a healthy Anderson Silva fight one of the big boys(Rua,Machida,Evans) in the light heavyweight division. I would even settle for a Rampage/Silva fight if Rampage is totally committed to MMA. Dana keeps bouncing Silva back and forth between the middleweight and light heavy weight divisions.....not really sure why? Maybe to keep him interested, I'd guess.

Easily one of the most boring PPV's in a while. The Lauzon/Ruediger fight was fun to watch....I'll give them that much. Davis/Diaz wasn't too bad either, but jeez the rest were terrible. And while I agree that Maynard/Edgar will be boring, I don't think any title fight can be more boring than Silva/Maia or Silva/Leites. Those were horrendous.
