UCLA was the better looking team from start to finish.
What ever nut job put a few bucks down on UCLA to win that is one lucky SOB. Unreal. Franklin is a total tool. But he's not going anywhere unless they come up with 56 milly to pay him off. So I think they're stuck with him for awhile
Funny thing was they took the money line off the books the day before the game because it was so lopsided. Didn’t want someone dropping $100k on Penn State.What ever nut job put a few bucks down on UCLA to win that is one lucky SOB. Unreal. Franklin is a total tool. Yeah I'm sure that PSU fan base is a total dumpster fire. Well the 56 large is estimated based on what's known about his deal. In 2021 he signed a 10 yr deal for 85 milly with the initial buyout being 64. So based on where they are in the deal now the 56 number is a guess but it's probably not far off.Didn’t know Franklin’s buyout was that high. Yeah, the days of paying Jimbo Fisher 70 mil just to go away are long over.
@USC
PSU
Oregon
Which one do you think Iowa gets? They will get at least one of the three and it doesn’t matter if Brown or Gronowski is the quarterback. I think one of the final KF specials will be them beating Oregon in Kinnick.![]()

A lot crazier things have happened.Didn’t know Franklin’s buyout was that high. Yeah, the days of paying Jimbo Fisher 70 mil just to go away are long over.
Agreed. With the TV and donor money available to blue bloods these days, any contract can be bought out.A lot crazier things have happened.
Mind you I'm not saying Franklin should get fired, that'd be pretty stupid, but crazier things have happened. Penn State has eff you money.
Is the desperation for a Nattie so great you would risk that success and turn into an Arkansas?
I don't think it is all about the nattie for Penn State fans. While that might be part of it, they are mostly sick of taking dumps in big games.Agreed. With the TV and donor money available to blue bloods these days, any contract can be bought out.
I think there is enough of a track record that tells you Franklin is an elite recruiter, very good coach, but is not going to lead you to a title. He generally has the program in the Top 10 or so territory, and they are almost always nationally relevant.
So, setting aside the buy-out, if you are an average PSU fan, you have to see that there is a lot more room to get worse than there is to get better if you fire Franklin and try to find that coach "to take you to the next level." Some of these blue blood programs are that reckless and hungry for a title. MANY OSU fans wanted Day fired last year after he lost to Michigan. Some still do!!!
In a 4 tier system, Iowa is probably comfortably in the second tier and will stay there under KF. I can see the argument that its worth the risk to try to get to the top tier, knowing you are risking the program instead being the next Nebraska. PSU is already in the Top Tier, and probably will be as long as Franklin is there. Is the desperation for a Nattie so great you would risk that success and turn into an Arkansas?
